Hi there! Today I have a tag to share for the March More Than Words Mini Challenge. This month, we are challenging you to create a card, tag or ATC featuring the word "Happy". I created a mixed media style card that I made for my sweet sister Marlene, who is scheduled to have a bilateral mastectomy along with reconstructive breast surgery today. She has completed 12 weeks of chemotherapy and is thankfully cancer free as of now :) Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I added lots of texture using various mediums including texture paste, Distress embossing powder, crackled paste and crackle paint:

Happy Spring! 30

Happy Spring! Yesterday was a beautiful spring day here in Arizona. My sweet sister Tina and I hit the hiking trail at 7:30 am to tackle our 5.5 mile mountain hike. The desert is in full bloom. Here's a picture of a Fendler Hedgehog cactus that we passed along the way:

Today I have a 12" x 12" gessoed art board to share featuring a single red rose Gary Jenkins style. 

I painted this piece as I followed along with Gary's A Red Vase video tutorial. I love the simplicty of this composition:

Happy St. Patrick's Day! 26

Happy St. Patrick's to all who celebrate! As the saying goes, everyone's Irish on St. Patty's Day :) Today I have a 12" x 12" gessoed art board to share featuring several white roses Gary Jenkins style. I wanted to paint white roses and Gary's Rose Elegance video tutorial was great inspiration for the dramatic black background.

All the artists who inspire me all emphasize the same thing: practice, practice, study and practice some more! I reworked the two larger on this painting at least four times which means I painted them, erased them with turpenoid and started all over x 4! I'm still not satisfied but I feel as though I need to move on and visit white roses another day ;)

For color inspiration, I'm joining along with the current ColourQ colour challenge. My paints are obviously not Stampin' Up inks but I've mixed up a variety of colors on my palette to try to get as close to the inspiration photo as possible.

Colorful roses 24

Hi there! Today I had fun painting roses on a 12" x 12" gessoed surface Gary Jenkins style :) I painted this piece as I followed along with Gary's Garden Beauty video tutorial.

I'm learning with each brush stroke which is important to me and that's part of my creative journey. I'm getting more and more comfortable with the painting process but I'm still not quite at the point where I'm ready to paint a large canvas yet. One day soon.
