Mona Pendleton | Friday, May 7, 2010 @ 8:58 PM | , ,

***I have 2 posts today - if you are looking for my MTME project, please continue to scroll down :) Thanks***

Hi Everyone! Time for another Technique challenge with Just Us Girls. This week, I am the lucky one to pick the technique so, I chose the making of a Pocket Card. There are quite a variety (NINE) pocket tutorials to choose from that can be found on Splitcoaststampers HERE if you need a little inspiration & direction :) I hope you come join the fun with Just Us Girls & our May Featured Designer: LeAnne & our Special Guest Designer: Teresa Kline.

***Keep the entries coming! Just Us Girls is currently have a DT calling! - if any of you are interested - please see the
Just Us Girls site for COMPLETE details!***Here is my Criss Cross Pocket card & Pocket:

I started with a blank Jenni Bolin BINGO card - perfect sturdy base for my Pocket card :)

I stitched the complete perimeter of the pocket.

I stitched several pieces of K&Company cs to the BINGO card, added a bow, button & tag. I love the Melissa Frances Vintage image of the lil' children - so sweet & innocent. I matted on a frame that was cut using a Spellbinders™ Nestabilities S5-019 Labels Eight die template. For a little extra, I added a beautiful resin like flower embellishment (in the lower right corner).

For all the details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls (found on my side bar) as well as LeAnne! Once you have your project photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your project on our site. A "Yummy" scrapped LO...Just Us Girls Technique Challenge 39

Mona Pendleton | Friday, April 9, 2010 @ 8:57 PM | ,

Hi Crafty Friends :) Are you ready to get scrappy with Just Us Girls? For this week's, Technique challenge, JUGS28, Alicia has challenged us to create a scrapped layout using her fun sketch!

Here's my take:

These photos were taken at the San Diego Wild Animal Park Summer of 2008! We took a tour of the "Serengeti", where we had the most awesome opportunity to feed the Rhinos sweet potatoes!
I fashioned a BIG We R Memory Keepers word eyelet right in the center of a flower made using an EK Success punch.

I like to stitch my buttons into place! Secures things right where you want them!

These animals are magnificent gentle giants! Their tongues are huge & they lift their upper lip when you reach towards them with the treats! If you ever go to San Diego, CA this is one place you will surely want to visit! We even spent a night in a tent & watched the animals graze at night! It is called "Roar & Snore!" Would love to know if you have ever visited the SD Wild Animal Park? Be Sweet!

I was thrilled that Alicia chose a scrapped challenge! Great motivation to get my Summer trip of 2008 completed-Thanks Alicia :) One out of MANY pages to go :) LOL

Once you have your scrapped page photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your project on our site. Happy Mother's Day...JUGS24 44

Mona Pendleton | Friday, March 12, 2010 @ 9:57 PM | ,

Hi There! Are you ready to try a new technique with Just Us Girls? This week Pam is our fabulous Hostess & has challenged us to create a "Flap" card. If you need a little guidance on how to make a card using the "Flap" technique, here is the link to an easy to follow tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/flap_card/ I hope you come join the fun with Just Us Girls & our March Featured Designer: Stephanie.

Here is my "Flap" fold card all tied up!
There are several ways to keep your flap card closed ie: a magnet, velcro, button & string, a bow :) I originally intended that my card remained closed using a pair of magnets: 1 on the inside & 1 on the flap. After I stitched all the layers together the magnet would not hold so, I improvised & wrapped a generous piece of ribbon around the card & tied a big bow :) Using various images from the MTME © Fanciful Flourishes set, I randomly stamped the outside of the card as well as the inside, side flaps.

To make the rose & leaf embellishments, I inked up the "rose & tea cup" Heartfelt Creations image, colored them with an assortment of Copic markers, inked them with VersaMark ink, then applied Pantina colored Pearl Accents powder. This gave the roses a distressed, shimmery look!

This is what you see when you untie the bow!

From this angle, you can really see the dimension of the paper pieced rose & leaves.

I hope you join along & give this fun technique a try! Thanks For looking - Be Sweet!

For complete details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls (found on my side bar) as well as Stephanie! Once you have your flap card photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your creation on our site. If you upload to on online gallery, please be sure to label your project as JUGS24.

Just Us Girls Technique Challenge......JUGS20 45

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, February 13, 2010 @ 9:03 AM | , ,

***I have 2 posts today - if you are looking for my Sketch For You To Try post - please continue to scroll down - Thanks!***

Hi Everyone! Thank you to all who played along with Just Us Girls sketch challenge hosted by Tracey. This week, for the Just Us Girls Technique Challenge, Lisa is our wonderful Hostess & chose to challenge us all with the Split Negative Technique. If you are like me & have never attempted this technique, please refer to the awesome tutorial written by Lori, that can be found at Splitcoaststampers.
Here is my Merci card:
I inked up one of the larger PTI Damask Design images with 1st Versamark, then embossed on the SU Always Artichoke cs. Washed the stamp, then inked it up with SU Always Artichoke ink, stamped the image on PTI Rustic White cs then cut both stamped images out using the Spellbinders Labels 1 die, then cut each Label right down the center to get my Split Negative.Since I had the two stamped Split Negative images, I used them both & made a set of two cards. I like the way these two cards look side by side. For the scripty background, I inked up the Judi Kins Signature Artist stamp with SU Chocolate Chip ink. One of my new favorite background stamps :)This teensy - weensy rosebud is a Prima product that I recently discovered while shopping at my local craft store. Makes for a sweet embellishment while adding just a splash of color :)

I hope you can join along with Just Us Girls this week giving the Split Negative technique a try :) For complete details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls (found on my side bar) & Chupa to see what they have created!

Once you have your project photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your creation on our site. If you upload to on online gallery, please be sure to label your creation as JUGS20!
Thanks for stopping by! Be Sweet!
