Warm Wishes 45

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 3, 2011 @ 9:30 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I'm so happy it's almost Friday (2.5hrs)! My weekend starts at the end of my shift ~ 3:00 pm SHARP! I'm lovin' my new job~no call and no weekends! YAHOOO!!! The weather has been crazy all over the United States and Australia! Thankfully we haven't had any snow flurries to report here in my neck of the woods (Ahwatukee, AZ) but many parts of the country have been getting pounded with heavy snow fall and frigid temperatures, including my hometown of Orchard Park, NY where I have a few friends still residing :) I made this card for my sweet friends Sue and John:
I love this little snowman from Waltzingmouse Sewing Box - Christmas - he's one of my faves :) You can see in the photo below that I stamped him x 2 and paperpieced one on to of the other, popping him up with a few foam squares for a bit of dimension.
My sweet friend Lisa recommended this fun sketch challenge site called Sketch Saturday. There was so much great inspiration and I loved the sketch, so I played along with this week's Sketch Saturday #140:
These are the Copic markers used to color the sweet snowman and heart images:
I finally get to share on my blog my warm winter wishes card that was published in CARDS magazine: January issue :) Here's the magazine version:
and here he is in my light tent before sending him off:
I hope you stay safe and keep warm wherever you may be! I will be back Saturday for an all new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Thanks for looking ~ Be Sweet!

Happy Birthday Scott! 59

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, December 9, 2010 @ 1:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! Today we are celebrating my sweet hubby's Birthday :) We both have the day off from work so we plan to hike the mountain near our home, go out for a lunch then have a little celebration when the kids come home from school. The pressure is on me now to pull off an amazing 50th party next year! YIKES The pic below is from Scott's Birthday last year with my sweet 4 legged fur baby Gretchen :)
Of course I had to make Scott a Birthday card so this is what I came up with:
I find creating masculine cards quite challenging to say the least~I want to glam everything all up with flowers & bows. How about you? Do you struggle creating masculine cards as well?

I inked up a feathery little friend image from JustRite Back Yard Birds with Memento Timber Brown ink then referred to the Dryer Sheet tutorial that Beate shared on her blog not too long ago or you can find it HERE on SCS to create the soft, shimmery look.
For color inspiration, I played along with this week's Off The Wall Challenge #36, OTWC36
I hope you enjoy your day! Thanks so much for visiting :)

Fluttering with Love...WMSC19 52

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 16, 2010 @ 12:00 AM | , ,

Hi There! Here today to share a card I made to hopefully get you inspired to play along with this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge :)
I took some liberty with this sketch in order to accommodate my lil' tag displaying the sweet with love sentiment from Victorian Frippery. I inked up one of the images from Text-It with Memento Desert Sand ink followed with randomly stamped various sized roses and leaves from Roses in Bloom. Using the Copic marker combination shown in the photo below, I outlined the images rather than coloring them in solid. What do you think? I think I like the softer look of the transparent flowers. Something different :)
For color inspiration, I played along with this week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe.

One of the unique features about Spellbinders™ die templates is the ability to cut, emboss & stencil all with one die! This gorgeous lil' butterfly is a perfect example of how easy these three techniques are to accomplish.
These are the Copic markers used for this card:
Thanks for visiting :) Hope you have a great Saturday!

If you find some crafty time, please feel free join along with this week's sketch challenge. After you have made your project, please head on over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site, link your post & be sure to see what the other Waltzingmouse DT girls & Mischief Makers have created. If you post your creations in an on-line gallery, please label it WMSC19 so we won't miss them! Note: you may use any stamps of your choice in our challenge entries. Of course, we love to see what you create using Waltzingmouse Stamps images, but they are not required to play.

***Please be sure to upload all of your Waltzingmouse Stamps cards/projects in the Gallery.

REMEMBER: Tomorrow, Sunday, October 17th, 3:00 AM Eastern Time I will be waltzing along with the Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps October Blog Waltz sharing an Autumn/Fall themed project! Hope to see you then :)

Peaceful Poinsettia 35

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, October 13, 2010 @ 12:50 AM | , ,

Hi There! Hope you are all having a great week so far! We're half way to the weekend already - YAHOOO!!! I had some "me" time, so I made this Holiday card.
I inked up one of the smaller Poinsettia images from Big Blooms - Poinsettias with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it a few times. Using the Copic markers shown in the photo below, I colored both images then paper pieced, layering one on top another to add a lil' dimension. I was playing around with my sewing machine and tried a new stitch (the black one), only to find I do not like it but the damage was done :( Won't make that mistake again! The lil' tag was stamped with a sentiment from Nutcracker Sweet & the lil' motif is from Very Vintage Labels No. 1
For sketch inspiration, I played along with Kazan's awesome sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You. Kazan, Laura & the entire DT offer amazing inspiration week after week! If you are interested in joining an amazing DT, I recommend you visit their site (click HERE)! They are currently searching for a few new designers to join their team!
These are the various Copic Markers used:
That's all I have for today - Thanks for visiting! Be Sweet :)

Elegant Ornaments 56

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, September 19, 2010 @ 7:00 PM | , ,

Hi Friends! Hope you all had a great weekend! I enjoyed a Sunday full of football games, a little bit different than my hubby ;) I played around in my "studio" (aka kitchen) & made a Christmas card for this week's JustRite Friday's Challenge:

Sharon challenged us to ink up our JustRite stamps using the following color combination dark red, ivory & black, with the added twist of creating our own handmade embellishment. How fun!

I inked up the elegant sentiment from Christmas Nested Sentiments & Verse with VersaMark ink, embossed with silver embossing powder then used a S5-025 Labels Seventeen die template to cut/emboss the image. I love the beautiful scripty font & it fits perfectly inside the elegant frame.

As for the homemade embellishments, I pulled out the S4-283 2010 Heirloom Ornaments die templates used various sizes to cut/emboss F-001 Red Premium Craft Foil then for a lil' dimension & character, I embossed them using the I2-1014 Fleur De Lis Impressibilites® template. To reveal the metal, I lightly sanded off away some color. If you are interested in referring to a tutorial I wrote on this process, please feel free to click HERE.

That's all for today! Thank so much for looking!

Strawberry Fields Forever 46

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 18, 2010 @ 7:00 PM | , ,

Hello Friends! I need to shake my pom - poms & shout HURRAY from the rooftop - its' another football weekend in the Pendleton's home! That means while my hubby, Scott is in football Heaven, I am in papercrafting Heaven ;)

I was inspired to create this card for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenges, FTCC84 by several of my blogging friends. My dear friend Heather recently asked me if I had any Flourishes stamps in my collection - I was embarrassed to admit to her that I have owned some for several months now, just haven't inked them up but if you browse through my blog, you will see I have been a wee bit busy. I know excuses, excuses... My dear friends Silke, Kathy & Beate feed me with a weekly serving of Flourishes eye candy! These girls can color like nobody's business! I just drool over their cards...sigh...

The FTCC84 challenge is to incorporate the Spotlighting Technique when making your project. If you would like to view an awesome Spotlighting Technique tutorial written by Beate, click HERE. I am also entering this card in this month's SCS Dirty Dozen Totally Trendy gallery which focuses on all the latest trends in papercrafting. It seems Crinkled Seam Binding has become quite the rage & I confess, I am addicted myself.

I would like to share a few blogging awards I have recently received from several dear blogging friends. Both June & Ros passed this Friendly Blog Award on to me & I would like to offer them to all of my fellow bloggers as a lil' thank you for all the inspiration & encouragement that you continually share with me :)

This Beautiful Blogger award comes from my dear sweet friend Heather.

Thank you so much ladies for thinking of me - I cherish all the incredible friendships that I have made around the world all over the love of papercrafting ;)

Thanks for looking! Hope you have a lovely Sunday & find some time to enjoy yourself doing whatever you please :)

Hi Friends! Thanks so much for the sweet comment on my Halloween banner that I made for the Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps September Blog Waltz. Here today to share this card I made for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.

This card is rather Clean And Simple for me. I inked up Musical Backgrounds to create the background for the top layer & paired it with some pretty My Mind's Eye DP.

I have been admiring the fancy ribbon treatments that I have been seeing so I thought I would give one a try. Sort of reminds me of ribbon candy that will be hitting the shelves soon around the Holidays :) Rather than lace, I used a S4-213 Fleur De Lis Borderabilities® Petite die template to create the decorative border below the ribbon then fancied a tag showcasing Trust in him sentiment from Words of Wisdom & finished off the card with a lil' butterfly, pearl & flower.

Once I had my idea, this card only took a matter of minutes to create. I appreciate you taking the time to visit my blog & truly appreciate your feedback! Can't wait to see what you all create! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Be Sweet!

If you find some crafty time, please feel free join along with this week's sketch challenge. After you have made your project, please head on over to The Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site, link your post & be sure to see what the other Waltzingmouse DT girls & Mischief Makers have created. If you post your creations in an on-line gallery, please label it WMSC15 so we won't miss them!

***Please be sure to upload all of your Waltzingmouse Stamps cards/projects in the Gallery. Don't forget, Claire is going to randomly award SIX stamp sets later this month to one of you who uploads to the Gallery!!!

There's also still time to waltz through the posts in our September Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz and play the game for a chance to win a stamp set of choice!

And if that's not enough, THREE lucky ladies/gents who play in this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge will win a digital template or digital paper pack of choice!!!

Tag Time 56

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, September 14, 2010 @ 9:28 AM | , ,

Hi Friends! I had some "me" time last night while my hubby was preoccupied with Monday Night Football - can I just say how much I LOOOOOVE football season ;) I made this tag for this week's JustRite Friday's Challenge: Christmas in September where Sharon is challenging us all to ink up our JustRite stamps & create a Christmas/holiday tag. If you visit here often, you probably know how much I love tags of all shapes & sizes so I just had to play along! Note the lil' sentiment tag? I made that by pairing a sentiment from Christmas Nested Sentiment & Verse along with a tag cut using the S5-081 Tags Five die template.

I pulled out one of the Spellbinders™ LF-190 Grand Labels Four die templates & filled it up with some goodies. What do you think of that lil' calendar? That is a FREE downloadable image courtesy of Sharon Harnist! She also generously offers many other FREE popular images - be sure to visit her blog - click HERE - & take a peek for yourself - I bet you will find something that will tickle your fancy ;) I love the way the calendar fits perfectly with Calendar Borders & Centers & a S4-161 Labels One die template! Makes it so easy to create a lil' calendar - I have BIG plans for these ;) I am going to beg Sharon to create a 2011 calendar for us so we can get a jump start on gift giving projects for next year :)

Adorning the tag is a vibrant Poinsettia that I created using S4-219 Nested Poinsettias die templates. It is only ONE of many Spellbinders™ Seasonal Die templates currently available!

Thanks so much for looking! Be Sweet

A Nutcracker Suite...Day 3 of September Previews/WMSC14 61

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 11, 2010 @ 12:00 AM | , ,

Hi Friends! Thanks so much for the sweet comments over the past few days on my Waltzingmouse September Previews - if you missed what I have already shared, please feel free to scroll down a post or TWO ;) So many fabulous projects that Claire & the rest of the Waltzingmouse DT gals have created so far - don't you think?

It's Day 3 ALREADY of the Waltzingmouse Stamps September Release previews & time for another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! Here is my take: Isn't that tree just darling? I think so :) Just take a look at all the intricate detail that embosses so beautifully.
To make the trees in both of the following cards, I inked up the tree images with Versamark ink then stamped it on green, yellow & brown cs, embossed with white embossing powder, cut each piece out, inked the edges a lil' with distressing ink then pieced it all together again! Using a red Copic marker, I added a lil' color to the hearts.

Claire was really thinking International when she designed this set! Talk about VERSATILITY! Note the lil' tag on the second card? God Jul to all my Scandanavian Friends! The Nutcracker Sweet set is jam packed of so many amazing images - this post only contains a few!Next up is a gift ensemble featuring so many goodies - A card, a treat bag full of nuts & a lil' gift card.

I love a red & white color combo for Christmas so I ran with it for this set. I think the Nutcracker Prince & all images included in the Nutcracker Sweet set are so classy & elegant, it doesn't matter what color you use!
To break up all the gold & red & add some contrast, I pulled out Pic-Nic Patterns, inked it one of the background images with VersaMark ink & embossed with white embossing powder. I used a S5-023 Mega Ovals LG die template to cut/emboss my Prince (made for a perfect fit) then layered him with a scalloped oval cut/embossed using a S5-024 Mega Classic Scalloped Ovals die template.
If you visit me often you know how much I enjoy making templates! Well, using the FREE Waltzingmouse Tea Bag Baggie template, I made a treat bag & filled it with a bag of almonds. So simple to make, yet looks so pretty :) This sample measures: 5"H x 4"Wx1 1.5"D

After cutting out the template, I created a window in front using a S4-190 Labels Four die template then adhered a piece of acetate on the inside.

Please be sure to hop on over to see what Claire (Owner), Lisa, Julia, Carly, Lynn, Anya, Bonnie, Jennifer, Belinda, Laurie & the Waltzingmouse Mischief Makers have created surely to get you inspired :) That's all for today - Hope you come back tomorrow for The Waltzingmouse September Blog Waltz! Thanks for looking - Be Sweet!
