birthday wishes 21

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, December 6, 2017 @ 11:36 PM | , , , ,

Hi! Today I have a birthday card x 2 to share. I really struggle creating masculine cards so since I had to make a birthday card for my dear husband, I made one for a male friend of ours.
I created a water colored background then layered on a die cut forest scene:
I embellished with a double layered die cut snowflake and a die cut male deer then randomly spattered acrylic white paint in hopes of making it appear like snow.
For color inspiration, I'm joining along with the Inspired by All The Little Things challenge:
as well as the CAS Mixed Media card challenge where I combined stamping, watercouloring, die-cutting, splatter, stains and sprays:
Many thanks for stopping by!

Winter wishes 23

Hi there! Today I'm honored and thrilled to be a guest featured on the Stamps and Stencils challenge blog. The DT has beautiful projects to share ~ please be sure to visit the Stamps and Stencils challenge blog. The current challenge is all about Pastels. Here's my take on the challenge:
To create my card, I inked the background then randomly stenciled snowflakes.  Next, I randomly heat stamped and heat embossed snowflakes. I embellished the card with a pair of die cut ice skates which I painted and stitched up. I topped it off with die cut sprigs and a fancy bow.
I'm joining along with the following challenges: For sketch inspiration, Fab Friday challenge as well as the Simon Says Stamp: Monday challenge where the theme is It's a Stitch Up: (the laces are all stitched up) and
Merry Monday challenge where the theme is Outdoor Activities:
Thank so much for stopping by!

patina and silver 16

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 3, 2016 @ 10:27 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! The thermometer is still reaching temperatures above 100 degree but I'm chillin' in my craft room with snowflakes on my mind ;) Today I'm joining along with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016 Technique Remix September:

Here's my interpretation of the challenge:
Creating the background tag using the Paint Patina technique went well probably because I have created projects using that technique in the past:
as for the Alcohol Ink technique using YUPO paper was a different story. It took several attempts and by the third, I was satisfied. The tag features a variety of pretty snowflakes from Tim's Grungeflakes stamp set along with a Paper Snowflakes die cut layered snowflake:
Here are a few of my other attempts at the alcohol ink technique on YUPO paper:
It's Day 2 of 30 in 30:
Today I have an 8" x 10" painting to share that was inspired by an online art lesson presented by Hall Groat Oil Painting Video DVD course. The antique silver teapot is one of the subjects to paint in the How to Paint Metal series:
I learned a lot along the way and can't wait to paint another teapot as well as a variety of other metal objects:
I'm linking this painting to the current Paint Party Friday site:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

hello and hope 36

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, August 7, 2016 @ 11:47 AM | , ,

Hi there! It's been probably a year or so since I've purchased products for papercrafting. Since I've been oil painting, I've been investing in paints, brushes and canvases. I was curious to see what new products were available in the Tim Holtz product line and was thrilled to discover the Tim Holtz Wildflowers Sizzix dies! Today I have a couple of very different projects to share featuring those dies along with a variety of other Tim Holtz products. For the first project, I joined along with Tim's 12 Tags of 2016 Technique Remix August:
featuring the following techniques:
Here's my interpretation of the challenge:
To create the tag, I first covered a #8 tag using TH tissue tape then attempted the brayer technique using TH Tumbled Glass Distress Stain without much success. It didn't have the WOW factor so I spritzed it with water, dried then made a second attempt using TH Picket Fence Distress Stain again without the WOW factor so I decided to randomly stamp and heat emboss a TH brick wall image on the tag.
For the frameworks technique, I used the Trellis die to cut TH Grungeboard which I then applied Picket Fence Distress Paint followed with random applications of Tumbled Glass spritzed Distress Stain. I randomly filled the negative space with die cut TH craft foil and corrugated cardboard:
I embellished with a variety of die cut Wildflowers, a bow and TH enamel tag featuring a butterfly rub on:
Up next is a rather CAS card featuring a trio of TH die cut Wildflowers:
Love the versatility of all the TH products!
For color inspiration, I joined along with the current ColorThrowdown color challenge

and for card sketch inspiration, I joined with the current Freshly Made sketch challenge:
Thanks so much for stopping by!
