Mona Pendleton | Friday, February 28, 2014 @ 10:55 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo of Connor and Emily that was taken prior to Connor's Junior Prom dance last year along with an assortment of beautiful Pion Design patterned papers from various collections. Pion Design is previewing their latest beautiful collection: Shoreline Treasures on their blog ~ click HERE. If you would like a chance to win the entire Shoreline Treasures collection, please be sure to visit their blog HERE.
For the title, I stamped one of the versatile sentiments from Document It - Captured Memories:
I embellished using flowers from my stash along with die cut foliage that was made using Die-namics Large Leaf-Filled Flourish. For added texture and design, I dry embossed the pretty green paper using a Spellbinders embossing folder:
For color and story inspiration, I joined along with the CSI 111 challenge:
Here's how I incorporated the different elements from the story:
The Scheme:
Used ALL five colors used
The Evidence:
Used polka dots, border punch, dry embossing, 3 of something (3 light orange colored flowers)
The Testimony:
Used the inspiration words: Friends for the journaling

For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current Scrap365 challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Adventure 46

Mona Pendleton | Monday, February 24, 2014 @ 10:00 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the MFT DT February Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to create a card, home-decor, 3-D gift or scrapbook page using any of our stencils to create texture and / or design to our projects.
I created a layout featuring a photo of Scott that was taken while we were vacationing in Southern France.
I used the Stone Wall stencil along with Fiber Paste to create subtle texture and design to the background:
I randomly stamped the chicken wire design from Distressed Background Blocks then added a variety of homemade blossoms using the following Die-namics dies: Plentiful PetalsMini Royal RosesMini Rolled Roses:

Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the MFT blog for a complete list of designers who will be joining along!

Hi there!  It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined along with last week's challenge! Seems as though stencils are all the rage and we've noticed an increasing variety of paste mediums to go along. This week, we challenge you to get our your paste or stencils and make some texture on your project! Whether you're a  fan of gel mediums or embossing pastes, using gesso and a stencil to make texture or you just love "pasting" bits of paper together "decoupage style" ~ let's see what you can do!

I was inspired to create a mixed media tag featuring lots of texture that was created using the Tim Holtz Bubble Stencil along with Liquitex modeling paste:
I also added texture on the die cut Mini Butterfly:
After creating the colorful, textured background, I topped the tag off with a beautiful blossom that was made using Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret along with the coordinating Heartfelt Creations Spellbinders Vintage Floret dies:
Many thanks for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

happy Spring 48

Mona Pendleton | Friday, February 21, 2014 @ 9:00 PM | , , ,

Hi there! I have a bad case of Spring fever ~ how about you? We are breaking record temps here in the desert and I am loving the 80 degree temps. One of the many reasons I moved west leaving the bitter northeast behind.

Today I have a card to share featuring pretty Pion design patterned paper from the Fairytale of Spring collection which includes the sweet bunny rabbit.

To create this card, I layered the die cut framed bunny on top of pretty patterned paper, stitched in place, stamped a sentiment from MFT Embellished Eggs, die cut a flourish using a piece of paper from Flower Frames as well as a couple of banners then embellished with a trio of blossoms from my stash:
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current Sketch n' Dies challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

A Cameo Appearance 26

Mona Pendleton | @ 10:00 AM | ,

Hi there! Today I am here sharing my project for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the theme is A Cameo Appearance. I have a step by step tutorial that may be found on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog on how I made the crackled cameo on the canvas shown below. I would be thrilled if you checked it out for yourself ~ Click HERE :)
To make this project, I painted a burlap canvas, adhered a die cut oval piece of patterned paper, embellished with a variety of die cut flowers and foliage then topped it off with a vintage crackled cameo and frame. If you would like to see how I created the cameo, please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog (click HERE).
I love the beautiful vintage crackled aged effect that is achieved so easily with this technique.
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you enjoyed my project and I hope I have inspired you to give it a try and join along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Stamp Challenge!

Wonderful time:
