just celebrate 35

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, December 29, 2013 @ 10:01 PM | ,

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend! We at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge are not hosting the weekly challenge this week but are the DT is offering inspiration throughout the week. In celebration of the New Year, we are focusing on glitter or metallic accents.

With that in mind, I created a wall hanging full of glittery ~ shimmery accents in celebration of ringing in the New Year.
I love adding a dusting of Distress Stickles dry glitter to my flower embellishments. The glitter seems to add that extra special touch, making the flowers appear as if they are coated with morning dew.

Love, Wish, Dream 39

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, December 28, 2013 @ 11:27 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! We have just been relaxing, enjoying time at home. Jerry and April flew back to their home in San Francisco yesterday ~ time sure does fly.

I had some time to simply play around for fun, joining along with several of my favorite challenges while using various products. I made the canvas shown below featuring a photo of Angie that was taken more than 10 years ago while we were on a family ski vacation.
To create this project, I first added lots of texture using 13arts Ayeeda Modeling Paste along with the Petal Circles Stencil. Once dry, I applied various mists from my stash including 13arts Ayeeda Bordeaux Pearl Mist which is the vibrant shade of pink in the right lower hand corner. For the title, I stamped a sentiment from a Tim Holtz set using Adirondack Archival Ink because it is permanent and water resistant then colored using mist.
I framed Angie's photo with a painted, glittery chipboard frame and a trio of beautiful die cut snowflakes that were made using Simon Says Stamp Fun Flakes:
I'm entering this canvas in the Craft Stamper challenge which is to create a project featuring The Ombre Technique, The Sunday Stamper challenge where Hels is challenging us to incorporate the word WISH and The Scrap Africa challenge where the theme is to incorporate Glitter, Snowflakes and Masking

Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Let is SNOW 35

Mona Pendleton | Friday, December 27, 2013 @ 4:01 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I had some time to myself to be creative so I made a layout featuring a photo of Connor and Meredith that was taken several years ago while we were on a family ski trip.
I combined LOTS of die cuts to create this layout. The larger banner was made using a Die-namics Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX die, the smaller banner was made using a die from Die-namics Layered Treat Tag and the hearts were made using Die-namics Hearts STAX dies.
I added texture and design using the Concentric Circles Stencil. I topped off the layout with Berrylicious stamped snowflakes from Snowflake Splendor.
I joined along with the current 7 Dots Studio Snowflake inspired challenge and for sketch inspiration, I joined along with Sketchabilities
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

you're the one... 30

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, December 25, 2013 @ 10:01 PM | , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week and are enjoying the holiday season! Due to the holidays, there is not a current challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge site however the DT is offering projects for inspiration that will hopefully get your crafty MOJO jump started! Today on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge site, several of the DT members and myself are sharing WINTER themed projects.
When I think of winter, I think of fun filled days building snowmen which inspired me to create a wintery page in my art journal featuring a cracked up frosty friend ;)
I spent the first 25 years of my life, living in what is referred to as the "snow belt" located in Buffalo, NY. We would get lake effect snowfall which was perfect for building many snowmen. With these thoughts in mind, I pulled out my art journal and created a wintery scene including a die cut Winter Wonder Snowman. For added interest, I applied a layer of Crackle Paint to the snowman and stamped the background with Grunge Flakes.
I stamped a fun sentiment that seems to fit perfectly with my cracked up frosty friend from Tim Holtz Words For Thoughts:
I accented a couple of the edges with fun Kelly Purkey Washi Tape Teal Polka Dots and Triangles:
In case you were curious how I created this page in my art journal, I took some photos of a few steps along the way:

Cut a piece of chipboard from stash using the Sizzix Tim Holtz Winter Wonder Snowman Bigz die, apply a coat of Ranger Claudine Helmuth Mini Gesso:
Once dry, apply a generous amount of Ranger Tim Holtz Picket Fence Crackle Paint. Allow to dry.
To accent the hat, carrot nose and perimeter using the following: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Black SootTim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Spiced MarmeladeTim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Tea Dye. Set aside.
To create the background on my page, I applied a coat of Gesso followed with randomly applied Broken ChinaPicked Raspberry, and Spun Sugar Distress paints:
Once dry, I randomly stamped Grunge Flakes and a fun sentiment from Words For Thoughts:
I added a little extra interest using the Bubble Stencil along with Snow Cap Acrylic paint:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope I inspired you to create a fun wintery project!
Be Sweet ;)
