live everyday... 36

Mona Pendleton | Monday, June 30, 2014 @ 10:13 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo of my dear daughter Angie that I took while we were hiking around Torrey Pines State Park located in Southern California a few weeks ago. I combined beautiful patterned papers from the Pion design Shoreline Treasures collection:
I took on the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #5 which is all about Distress Watercoloring and created the light blue layered blossoms using Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Markers, Tim Holtz Watercolor paper, Heartfelt Creations stamps and coordinating Spellbinders Paper Arts dies. I also used the Distress Watercolor technique to color the Tim Holtz Blueprint Seashell:
I wanted to join along with the Sunday Stamper challenge which is to create a project featuring WOOD and stamps, so I found a neat piece of wood in a bag of pot-pourri in my stash and put it to good use as a banner topper ;)
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Let's Get Sketchy Week 4 sketch challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting!
Be Sweet ;)

A Patriotic layout 38

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, June 29, 2014 @ 9:01 PM | ,

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's challenge theme is: W is for White! There are so many shades of white, from cream to navajo and with applications from nautical to patriotic to winter. How will you use white this week? Will it be with gesso? ink? pen? or perhaps you will transform simple white cardstock...
I was inspired to create a patriotic themed layout with an all white background.
I love the texture and dimension of the embossed star studded background!
I wanted the patriotic images from Mini Blueprints 2 to standout as well, so I stamped and heat embossed the images using super fine embossing powder then applied white chalk to create a chalkboard appearance.
Many thanks for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

A Fond Farewell and Thank you to MFT 33

Mona Pendleton | @ 9:00 PM | , , ,

Hi there! Today I am bidding a fond farewell to MFT as the term of my contract has come to an end. I would like to especially thank Kim van der Sanden, the Owner of My Favorite Things for the amazing opportunity not only to be a MFT DT member but to also design a line of products under the well established, well respected MFT brand name. I would also like to give Jody Morrow a big shout out for all of her hard work, dedication and patience as we worked through the process of developing products together. I had an amazing time designing along side all the talented ladies on the DT and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to get to meet and spend time with several of the ladies in real life :)
To create this Thank you card, I combined stamps from Winged Beauties and Peaceful Wildflowers along with beautiful patterned papers from the Pion design A Day in May collection:
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current retrosketches sketch challenge:
Many thanks for stopping by!

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Today I have a layout to share featuring a combination of beautiful patterned papers from the Pion design My Precious Daughter and Shoreline Treasures collections.
For the title, I used the chalkboard technique:
I embellished with die cut foliage and flowers from my stash:

For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the current Sketchabilities sketch challenge
for color and theme inspiration, I joined along with the current CSI #128 challenge
Here is how I incorporated the different elements from the story:
Colors:
I used ALL of them

My journaling was prompted by the inspiration word: walk

REMNANTS 53

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, June 22, 2014 @ 9:01 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! For this week's challenge, the theme is to: use those products that don't get used nearly enough! Perhaps it is a stamp or maybe it is a particular ink color. Whatever your particular product or technique is ~ this is your chance to get it used and share!
I was inspired to create a tag using neglected fabric:
Fellow DT member Ashli was my source of inspiration to create my fabric based tag. Admittedly, I hoard fabric like I do cardstock! After creating the background with ripped strips of fabric
I embellished with an embossed foil flower and butterfly
I love the added texture and homespun feel that the fabric gave to my project.
Many thanks for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

A shabby mini... 44

Mona Pendleton | Friday, June 20, 2014 @ 7:32 AM | , ,

Hi there! Are you as ready for the weekend as I am??? We have a few fun things planned which includes Meredith competing in a horse show and taking a family date night out at the movies :) How about you ~ any fun plans? Today, I have another shabby mini album to share which includes beautiful papers from the Pion design Alma's Sewing Room collection along with lots of pretty lace and trimmings:
Angie loves the shabby vintage style as much as I do and had a MAJOR roll in helping make this album come together! Each page features a stitched on image from the Pion design Alma's Sewing Room collection:
Some of the trimmings are from my stash which I've collected over the years such as the May Arts pom pom trim that runs horizontally across the top of the page shown below:
some are newer items that I've purchased such as the resin piece shown below:
and most of the little doilies are ones that we have searched out and purchased at an vintage marketplace or thrift store:
See the little piece of lace hanging on the metal clothes hanger trinket ~ that's ALL Angie!!!!

I'm entering this project in the Sunday Stamper challenge where the theme is to create a project using pretty patterned papers along with stamping. Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoy your weekend!
