Adventure 41

Hello! Hope you are enjoying the weekend! We don't have any big plans, simply enjoying being home :) Last week, Scott and I were at our home away from home in San Diego relaxing and while there, we went to the International Sand Sculpting competition. Wow! What talent!!!

Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo of Meredith and I that was taken while on a trip 9 years ago while vacationing on Maui. Time flies!!!

I made my own background paper using the Gelli Arts plate and various colors of acrylic paints. I cut 4 strips of the paper then stamped and heat embossed one of the beautiful designs from Textile Backgrounds. I also stamped the chicken wire image from Distressed Background Blocks as well as several images from Washi Patterns. 

I embellished the layout with a single hibiscus bloom from Tropical Sensations as well as two beautiful butterflies made using Fancy Butterflies:

a little message...PDCC191 37

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! I'm still here, just a little busy working on projects for the upcoming MFT August release that is right around the corner. We're going on vacation to our home away from home in San Diego soon and while there, we will be touring 4 colleges with / for Connor. How time flies!

I'm very excited and honored to be participating this week along side the talented Play Date Cafe DT! Not only am I joining along with the challenge but I am sponsoring it! Julie Ranae, (Owner / Administrator of The Play Date Cafe), has graciously extended the opportunity for me to share some of my My Favorite Things MPD products with her, the DT and one lucky player. For my sample, I first made the background papers using the Petal Pattern stencil, various acrylic paints and the gelli arts printing plate. I then randomly stamped on the polka dot image from Distressed Background Blocks using Kraft ink.

Once the background was dry, I stitched the layers together then added a couple of Orange Fizz hibiscus blooms that were stamped using Tropical Sensations on coordinating die cuts that were made using Die-namics Tropical Sensations dies. I finished it with a sentiment from Just My Type.

my backyard hooter...AMMCC3 43

Hi there! Hope you are all having a great day! It's hard to believe summer vacation for Connor and Meredith is almost over ~ only two weeks left! Early Friday morning Scott and I will be driving up North to Prescott to pick Connor up from soccer camp where he has been since Sunday. While I was washing dishes yesterday, this beautiful Great Horned Owl caught my eye as he was sitting on our backyard fence. Not sure if he was looking for my two white four legged furry friends or contemplating a dip in the pool! We live on top of a mountain so it makes for an awesome hunting spot as they can get a good view of the valley below.

On to crafty affairs...

It's time for an all new Mixed Media Color Challenge. Thanks so much to all who joined along with the second challenge ~ so many fabulous projects in the gallery! For nearly the next two weeks, we will be playing with the following color combination: light blue, turquoise and neutral:

I made a 6 x 12 decorative hanging. To begin this project, I created the background using stamped plumeria images from Tropical Sensations and added texture using Concentric Circles stencil along with molding paste and acrylic paint. 

I stamped a sentiment from Cheerful Blessings on a die cut tag that was made using a Die-namics Traditional Tag STAX die then stitched in place then randomly stamped the chicenwire background from Distressed Background Blocks. 

To make the little house, I cut a 2 pieces of Grunge board. I covered the roof with a piece of dry embossed adhesive foil then sponged on black alcohol ink. I painted the "body" of the house with turquoise acrylic paint, added MS crackle medium then applied another coat of acrylic paint. I finished it with a metal keyhole embellishment, lace trim and a sentiment from Homespun Birdhouse.

I wanted a sandy beach look so I applied fiber paste. Once dry, I adhered my found beach treasures that Sue and I collected when I visited her in May :). I then added color using various mists including my own mixture consisting of MFT Berrylicious ink and MFT MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist:

Good Times...MFT July NPT 44

 

Hi! Welcome to the July MFT New Product Tour! Tonight, the MFT DT will be taking you on a tour of all the new products that are available NOW right HERE in the MFT Boutique.  I'm very excited to share with a few projects I made focusing on the following Brand Spankin' New Products: MPD Tropical Sensations, Die-namics MPD Tropical Sensations, MPD Concentric Circles Stencil and the MPD Petal Pattern Stencil.

First up is a layout featuring photos of both Meredith and Connor that were taken several years ago while we were vacationing on Maui. I think they still had baby teeth in their mouths! YIKES! 

To create this layout, I first started by layering and stitching a piece of paper (blue one) that I made using the Gelli Arts Printing plate onto a yellow 12 x 12 piece of card stock. Once stitched in place, I added design and texture using the MPD Concentric Circles Stencil with fiber paste.

Once the fiber paste was dry, I adhered the photos of Meredith and Connor that were die cut using Die-namics Pierced Circle STAX dies. Now the page was ready to be embellished with lots of flowers using Tropical Sensations. The yellow plumeria shown below was stamped using a combination of the pretty Banana Split and Lemon Drop inks.

The Hibiscus blossoms shown below were stamped using a combination of Sno Cone and Banana Split inks. All of the other non stamped Hibiscus blossoms on the page were made using the Die-namics Hibiscus die along with the following colors of cardstock: Banana Split, Lemon Drop and Sno Cone and the foliage was made using Gumdrop Green. For added shimmer, I sprayed the cardstock Hibiscus blossoms with MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist.

For the title, I used one of the fun dies from Die-namics LLD Accent It - Celebrate to die cut a piece of Lemon Drop card stock. Peeking out from below the title is a little stamped / die cut banner that was made using LLD Bitty Banners. 

Next is a rather clean and simple card featuring a couple Hibiscus blooms from Tropical Sensations as well as a sentiment. This card was so easy to make and took very little time! I simply die cut a piece of Sweet Tooth cardstock using the beautiful Die-namics Modern Morocco die then adhered the stamped / die cut Hibiscus blossoms and sentiment.

Last but not least is another card featuring a Hibiscus blossom and sentiment, both from Tropical Sensations. Once the Hibiscus was stamped and die cut, I adhered it on top of a fun triple layered stack that was made using Die-namics Pierced Circle STAX dies.

For added design, texture and color, I applied molding paste to the background using the MPD Petal Pattern Stencil. Once dry, I lightly sprayed a mist that was made using Banana Split ink and MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist. I finished the card with a trio of stitched on Blu Raspberry buttons.

thinking of you...MFT July Teasers Day 6 51

Today I have a set of several cards to share that I created backgrounds for using a variety of INTENSELY bright sprays along with the MPD Concentric Circles stencil. Each card features the bigger Hibiscus blossom from MPD Tropical Sensations. 

Shown below is a photo of the sprayed backgrounds:

All the cards are similar yet different. Basically, after I created the colorful backgrounds, I stenciled on Gesso, added some paint, stamped the chicken wire image from MPD Distressed Background Blocks, adhered a stamped Hibiscus from MPD Tropical Sensations and a sentiment from MFT Just My Type  to each.

For the first card, I randomly stamped the chicken wire image from MPD Distressed Background Blocks and sponged on gesso while using the MPD Graduated Hexagons stencil. The hibiscus was stamped using the following MFT inks: Orange Fizz, Lemon Drop and Sour Apple.

For the second card, I sponged on gesso while using the MPD Graduated Diamonds stencil. The hibiscus was stamped using the following MFT inks: Razzle Berry, Lemon Drop and Sour Apple.

For the third card, I sponged on gesso while using the MPD Graduated Dots stencil. The hibiscus was stamped using the following MFT inks: Grape Jelly, Lemon Drop and Sour Apple.

and last but not least for the fourth card, I sponged on gesso while using the MPD Graduated Diamonds stencil. The hibiscus was stamped using the following MFT inks: Lemon Drop and Sour Apple.

Today I have a card to share featuring a Hibiscus bloom from MPD Tropical Sensations along with a sentiment from LJD Birthday Greetings. I used the 3 rectangle dies and decorative border die from Die-namics Blueprints 5 set.

I stamped the Hibiscus image on a coordinating die cut that was made using MPD Die-namics MPD Tropical Sensations using Bubblegum ink for the petals, Banana Split for the stamen and inside design and Sour Apple for the leaves.

Sweet Friend...MFT July Teasers Day 3 55

Today I have a card to share featuring a trio of plumeria blossoms from MPD Tropical Sensations. To create this card, I stamped the background using one of the fab images from LLD Jumbo Mod Borders using Banana Split ink.  

I embellished the card with the plumerias which were stamped on coordinating die cuts made using Die-namics MPD Tropical Sensations using the following colors of MFT inks: Banana Split, Tangy Orange, Pink Lemonade and Gumdrop Green for the foliage. The sentiment is from MPD Tropical Sensations as well and was stamped using Black Licorice ink on a sentiment strip made using a Die-namics Sentiment Strips 2 die.
