Merry and Bright... 26

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, July 30, 2014 @ 10:05 AM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! Today I have a few projects to share featuring pretty Pion Design papers from the newly released Days of Winter collection. First up is a snowflake shaped wooden holiday hanging which features a beautiful image from From Grandma's Attic ~ tinted. I was thrilled to find the snowflake on clearance at a local for store for only $1! I altered it with some white gesso, crackle paint and glitter flakes:
All the die cut circles were made using a variety of Spellbinders dies and the sentiment is from  MFT Starry Christmas:
I finished it off with a few die cut sprigs and several flowers from my stash:
Next up is a card featuring a pretty image from Days of Winter:
I framed the image in a die cut rectangle then topped off with a die cut snowflake:
For the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch challenge:
Many thanks for visiting!
Be Sweet ;)

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's challenge theme is: "J is for..." July, journey, jump rings, jewel tones, and journaling. This week we are challenging you to be inspired by the letter J somehow. Be sure to tell us how you have been inspired by the letter J this week.
I was inspired to create a piece of Jewelry using Jumprings:
This challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to create a piece of metallic jewelry using a variety of products including an Ornate plate, Word Key, and Heart Charms:
I attached the heart charms and key using JUMP RINGS:
I colorized the metal butterfly and Ornate plate using picket fence Distress paint, broken china Distress ink and shabby shutters Distress ink. I trimmed a photo to size of my sweet daughter Angie then adhered and fastened in place:
Many thanks for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

Happy Holidays 30

Mona Pendleton | Friday, July 25, 2014 @ 2:20 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I'm here today to celebrate Christmas in July! Yesterday, Pion Design revealed the release of their newest collection ~ Days of WinterIn Pion's words ~ "Days of Winter is a collection capturing the essence of Winter and Christmas inspired by a snow-covered village of old times. With images and patterns of ice skaters on a frozen lake, calming walks through a silent landscape, delicate snowflakes, Christmas trees and Winter birds you will be given the opportunity to pass on the holiday spirit to all those precious to you."

When I received the box full of this beautiful collection, I couldn't wait to create! I made a holiday themed wall hanging featuring a gorgeous image from Lilly and Siri:
I combined the beautiful image with several layers other pretty papers from the Days of Winter collection then layered all on top of a piece of cut to size corrugated cardboard. I heat embossed enamel along the edges to create a snowy / frosted look:
I embellished with a few die cut pieces of foliage, doily, snowflakes and a variety of flowers from my stash. The sentiment is from Starry Christmas:
I am entering this in the current Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge where the challenge is to feature some sort of embossing on your project.

Many thanks for visiting ~ I hope you enjoy your weekend!
Be Sweet ;)

Live... 26

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, July 22, 2014 @ 8:56 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I'm so excited to have had a project shared on the ever so talented Marjie Kemper's blog (thank you Marjie!) and I would be tinkled pink if you would check out her blog HERE. Today I have a layout share featuring fun patterned papers from the Pion design A Day in May collection along with photos of Meredith that were taken about 7 years ago. This is not my "typical" layout using Pion papers ~ I challenged myself to get inky and create a mixed media style layout:
For color, sketch and theme inspiration I joined along with the current CSI 131 challenge:

I created a patch like square using 4 different photos of Meredith in action grooming and riding her horse:
I added interest, I applied a layer of crackle paint to the wooden title and applied modeling past to the background:
I applied various inks to Pion papers and to several flowers to get the colors appropriate for the challenge and I also added polka dot design using a stencil and gesso:
I pulled out some brads from my stash and randomly fastened them to the page ~ sort of remind me of the latest craze for enamel dots. I haven't caved and bought any as of yet, have you?
I took a couple photos along the way to share how I added texture and color to the pretty Pion design papers:

To wrap it up, here's how I interpreted the challenge:
Colors: I used all 5
Evidence: wet medium, doodling, polka dots, brads
Testimony: I journaled about an outdoor activity
Sketch: followed
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Be Sweet ;)
