Where's My Mummy? 41

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 19, 2009 @ 11:40 AM | , , ,

Happy Saturday Ladies! I have some last minute errands to run before my party tonight but I wanted to share my lil' Mummy card & tags with you :) I combined 3 different challenges to make this gift set: 1. For sketch inspiration: Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #98 2. For color inspiration: Samantha's Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Challenge #15, SPCC15 & 3. The Pile It On #15 - Color Pop, where I had to use 3 colors, 2 of which had to be black & white. Hop on over to all 3 of these sites for endless inspiration of creativity!!! Isn't he the cutest lil' Mummy you've ever seen? Be Sweet!

I made this set for Connor, my step son. He looooves plain Hershey's bars!!

This lil' Mummy stamp cost $1 at Michael's craft store! What a bargain!! I have just been lovin' the brayer technique lately! It just creates a cool effect & you can easily make your own colored textured DP!!!

I inked up the Mummy image with VersaMark ink, stamped him, them embossed with black embossing powder. To create sort of a shadow around him & make him pop off the piece of white paper, I outlined him with the Copic W3 marker & blended with the Copic 0 Colorless blender.

The pail was another bargain that I found at Michael's. It cost $1.5o! It holds a 12 ounce bag of candy bars!

Ingredients Used: Stamps: Recollections Mummy, PTI Spooky Sweet II Paper: SU Really Rust, Basic Black, Whisper White, My Mind's Eye DP Ink: VersaMark, SU Basic Black Sprinkles: Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle nestie, Quickutz tag dies, EK Success punches, generic twine, brads & embossing powder, Cuttlebug Diamond Plate EF, Offray ribbon, Basic Grey buttons

Birds Of A Feather 22

Mona Pendleton | Friday, September 18, 2009 @ 12:06 PM | , , , ,

Hi Ladies! T.G.I.F. :) Just a quick lil' Tweet here! I am hosting a graduation party for my 3 girlfriends / co-workers this weekend so I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get things prepared. I took a break from dancing with the vacuum cleaner & pressure washer to type up this post so I could share this card with all of you :) For color inspiration, I used this week's color combo from The Color Throwdown #60, CTD60, & for the sketch inspiration, I used this week's Mojo Mondays sketch #104, MOJO104. Week after week, the DT's from both of these sites offer beautiful examples for inspiration, as well as all the other participants! Go see for yourself! Maybe you too will become inspired to play along:) Do you have any BIG weekend plans? Be Sweet!

Here is some lil' details on how I made this card: I inked up the flower & stem images from the SU Cheep Talk set with SU Barely Banana & Green Galore ink & stamped my own background DP. I inked up the circle image stamp from the PTI Beautiful Blooms set with SU Taken With Teal (I don't have Bermuda Bay ink or paper) & stamped the center of the flower.

The Taken With Teal strips are embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF. To create a "poppin" feeling, I punched some flowers using an EK Success flower punch, layered them x2 then put a Heidi Grace brad in the center of each.

I inked up the lil' flower image from Fiskars Wishes All Around set & stamped all the way around the scallop to create a flower frame, then used my Copic E77 to give each lil' flower a center dot :)

Ingredients Used: Stamps: SU Best Yet, Cheep Talk, Fiskars Wishes All Around, PTI Beautiful Blooms Paper: SU Taken with Teal, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White PTI Lemon Tart Ink: SU Taken with Teal, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana Sprinkles: Spellbinders Scalloped Circle & Circle nesties, EK Success punches Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF, Heidi Grace brads

Christmas Tree Flourishes 19

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, September 16, 2009 @ 10:31 PM | , , ,

Hi Ladies! I want to congratulate my cyberfriend Julie over at Julies's Open Window for her new position as a Design Team Member at The Color Dare Challenge site! I made this card to help support their new & upcoming site using Karen's Sweet Sketch Sunday #35, SSSC35. This week's challenge CD34, we were challenged to use SU Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom & Certainly Celery (or any other brand's similar colors). If ANY of you are interested in playing with some fun colors or sweet sketches, I recommend you visit both of these sites & get inspired to play! Stop by & see what their DT has created to get your creativity jump started. I'd love to know if any of you have started making your Christmas cards? Thanks for looking!
Be Sweet :)

I focused on the flourishes in the SU Christmas tree image & stamped some coordinating background paper with the PTI Fancy Flourishes set. The white embossed flourishes really stand out on the SU Certainly Celery cs.

I have just been in love with using the brayer technique! I inked up the brayer with SU Blush Blossom ink, rolled it right on the Cuttlebug Snowflake EF, ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot Express & voila!

For a lil' extra detail on the inside, I stamped & embossed some flourish images & adhered a Martha Stewart punched snowflake x 2 with a Making Memories crystal brad.

Ingredients Used: Stamps: SU Season Of Joy, PTI Fancy Flourishes Ink: VersaMark, SU Certainly Celery, Blush Blossom Paper: SU Certainly Celery, Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White Sprinkles: Spellbinders Scalloped Circle & Circle nesties, Martha Stewart snowflake punches x 2, Making Memories crystal brads, Offray ribbon, Filigree embossing powder, Cuttlebug Snowflake EF

Fashion Daisies 26

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, September 15, 2009 @ 11:10 PM | , , ,

Hello Cyber Friends! I am really excited to tell you that the girls over at The Color Throwdown site gave my fall themed card, Pumpkin Pie Anyone? a "shout out"! :) Thank you Color Throwdown girls for the mention & thank you cyber girlfriends for the ton or supporting my blog! I truly appreciate all the positive feedback & read each & every comment :)

I am calling this gift set my Fashion Daisies! When I first saw Cuttlebug's New Morroccan Screen EF, I immediately thought of one of my fave French handbag designers, Louis Vuitton! (Louis Vuitton would have a heart attack if he were alive knowing I was associating his fine handbags to paper purses!) I made this Happy Birthday card & purse for my friend / co-worker, Perla, who will be celebrating her 26th birthday on Saturday, September 19th. I originally made this purse in March '09, so if you would like to see either a written or video tutorial click Scalloped Top Purse.(This will link you to my original post that includes step-by-step written instructions & my YouTube video) This lil' purse is extremely versatile & makes a wonderful gift. I frequently use it as a gift bag to fill with approximately 4 - 6 standard A2 greeting cards (4.25" x 5.5"). The color inspiration for my Fashion Daisies set comes from this week's Lauren's My Time To Create Inspiration Challenge, MTTI06 & the card layout is inspired by Kazan's Sketch 35 at 2 Sketches 4 You. For your pleasure, I recommend visiting both of these sites that I have mentioned! Do you like Louis Vuitton's style or do you have a personal fave? I'd love to know who is your designer of choice?! Be Sweet!

Using the flower outline stamp from the PTI Beautiful Blooms set, I randomly created my own background DP with SU Chocolate Chip ink.

For a whole lot of texture, I embossed the Sizzix SU Top Note Die with the Cuttlebug Morroccan Screen EF & the large BossKut daisy & lil' daisy on the inside with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF.

More embossing on the smallest scallop on the top flap & both front & back outermost panels. To keep the purse closed, I put a self-adhesive velcro dot between the front flap and purse front. I cut the lil' scalloped tag using the Sizzix Sizzlet tag die & adhered an embossed daisy.

Are you lovin' all the texture? For a lil' more detail, using a Bazzill Stitch'z template, I pierced holes around then entire circumference of the largest scalloped circle.

The topper is secured to the back of the purse with 3 large brads.

Ingredients Used: Stamps: PTI Beautiful Blooms, Flower Garden, SU Great Friend Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Whisper White Ink: SU Chocolate Chip Sprinkles: Cricut Accent Essentials Cartridge, Cuttlebug Morroccan Screen & Swiss Dots EF, Sizzix SU Top Note die, BossKut die, Marvy Uchida flower punch, Offray ribbon, Jo-Ann Craft Essentials hardware, Sizzix Sizzlit tag die
