Peach Parfait Roses 33

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, June 21, 2016 @ 10:41 PM | , ,

Hi! I hope you're having a great week so far! Today I switched paintbrush strokes and painted a few roses on an 11" x 14" canvas panel inspired by a lesson in The Beauty of Oil Painting book by Gary Jenkins. I'm not really thrilled with how the roses turned out but at some point, one must move on. Gary always reminds his students that one will probably have to paint at least 400 hundred roses to get the hang of the strokes! I'm two closer to my goal ;)
99.9 % of my paintings are "alla prima" style meaning (at first attempt) a wet on wet technique.

For color inspiration, I joined along with this week's ColourQ color challenge:
I'm joining along with this week's Paint Party Friday site:
Thanks so much stopping by!

This looks amazing, Mona. I love that blue foliage. If you had asked me about this color combo before I saw it, I might have wrinkled my nose a bit - but it's gorgeous! So fun to see the colors you put together.

Beautiful painting, Mona, some people can paint a lifetime and not do as good as you have done on your first try...relax and don't be as hard on yourself. You are painting now, but look back at your first blogged card compared to your last one. Hopefully we all evolve with each stroke or stamp! Thanks for joining us at the colourQ, always enjoy your work!

OMG I love these peach flowers against the bluegrey background, so fabulous. This is totally your calling....well one of them, because I love your card making and scrap pages as well. I think you have inspired me tonight to delve deeper into my creativity (once school is finished of course) and keep trying new things.
