A Peony and Roses 24

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, March 26, 2016 @ 9:31 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! Thanks to those for keeping my sister in your thoughts and prayers. Haven't received an update from my BIL in a couple of days regarding my sister but as the saying goes, no news is good news. Surely she is resting and gaining her strength. I'll keep you posted. Today I have a 11" x 14" painting to share that I painted using Heritage Acrylic Paints.
I painted this as I followed along with David Jansen's Paint It Simply's Peony and Roses Quick Compositions video tutorial. It's my first time painting with these paints and for me personally, there is definitely a learning curve. I don't want to throw in the towel just yet. This painting was painted using only 6 colors of paint on my palette. The variation in shades and values came from mixing the 6 basic colors.
I definitely have A LOT of room to grow but I'm having fun with the creative learning process and everyone has to start somewhere. All of my favorite artists including David Jansen remind me of the same thing, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...

I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday~
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Be Sweet ;)

I think this is the first time I have visited you. I love your blog and am going to look around for a bit! Your flowers are very pretty. I did flowers this week, inspired by a video, which was way out of my comfort zone.

Not sure what is wrong with your sister however I will keep her in my prayers and sending healing thoughts for her and your whole family. Hugs, Rasz

Well, I think your painting is simply marvelous and I think you are probably too hard on yourself, cause even with just little practice you seem to master everything!
I am glad to hear that your sister is doing ok, I wish her full recovery!

I so LOVE your peonies, Mona! The one in this creation is lovely with it's darker center. The rose is beautiful, too, but I'm truly partial to the peony. They're one of my favorite blooms. Have a very special Easter.
