SENDING Hugs 26

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, August 18, 2016 @ 7:00 AM |

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! I was in need of a few cards, one for my sweet sister and one for a dear friend. I combined a couple of PTI stamp sets including Big Hugs and Bloomin' Cute to create the two rather clean and simple cards shown below:

I'm joining along with the PTI August create Along With Us challenge where we are challenged to create something based on a PTI DT members project that was shown during the new release:
I was inspired by the darling clean and simple card made by PTI DT member Melissa Phillips:

Enjoy this special day 24

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend! Today I have a card to share that I made for my sweet sister to accompany a gift. I combined a sentiment from the PTI What the Doodled Butterfly set and made a coordinated die cut butterfly:
I think the butterfly is quite elegant don't you?
This card is accompanying the painting shown below.  It's week 4 already of a 5 week painting e-course that I am currently taking presented by one of my favorite impressionistic floral artists, Nancy Medina. This week, we are learning how to paint brilliant pansies and geraniums. Pansies are my sisters favorite flowers! Since time of the essence with my sister, I'm going to send her the first attempt!
Here's what my canvas looked like in the transparent phase:
Although pansies are rather small, they sure require a lot of patience as they are rather detailed!

I also tried not to over work the geraniums and blend them to oblivion as Nancy would say!
I'm so excited to have learned how to paint not only brilliant blossoms but pots that resemble a metallic silver appearance.

For card color inspiration, I'm joining along with the current ColourQ colour challenge:

yellow blossoms 31

Mona Pendleton | Friday, August 12, 2016 @ 4:47 AM |

Hi there! Today I have a couple of very different projects to share. First up is a card that I made for my dear sister who completed 14 days of full brain radiation. She's so brave! The plan of treatment for her, is to allow her body to recover from the radiation then start 4 cycles of chemotherapy every 2-3 weeks depending on how she tolerates it and if she wants to continue.

When I moved over a year ago, I really overhauled my crafting supplies including most of my patterned paper stash so I stamped my own using PTI stamps. The layered jar, the die cut flowers and sentiment are from a variety of PTI stamps and dies:
Next up is a 12" x 12" canvas board featuring a trio of yellow roses:
I probably overworked the roses and got a little carried away by adding too many leaves but I sure did have fun! :)

For color inspiration, I joined along with this week's Color Throwdown color challenge

for the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch challenge:

brilliant peonies 19

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, August 10, 2016 @ 6:32 PM | , ,

Hi there! It's week 3 already of a 5 week painting e-course that I am currently taking presented by one of my favorite impressionistic floral artists, Nancy Medina. This week, we are learning how to paint brilliant peonies. Here's my first attempt on a 12" x 12" canvas:
I really enjoy painting and I'm determined to improve my skills but I have to admit, it's seems like I'm going nowhere fast! Practice, practice, practice just like anything else...

Here's what the "under painting" looked like in the transparent layer stage before applying the opaque paints:
