Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Last night, Scott and I joined April and her Mom, Gennie for dinner at one of our favorite Indian restaurants. April was thrilled with the wedding invitation sample, so it looks like we will be in full production mode on Sunday! I'm hoping Tina will come over to my house as well and join in the fun :) I'm dying to give her the altered box and decorative charm piece that I made for her shown below.

Back in July, my sweet and talented friend Holly Simoni shared a tutorial on her blog (click HERE) on how to use the Spellbinders Media Mixage pieces and ever since I've been itching to give it a try. I used a die to cut out the photo of Tina that was taken on the day she celebrated her 1st Holy Communion nearly 50 years ago! It was my first time playing with resin and one thing I learned is you have to be patient because it doesn't dry immediately.

To create the "faith" charm, I simply adhered a Tim Holtz sticker in the bezel, sprinkled in some glass glitter that I have had for several years now but never used, then covered with resin. I think I've gotten the hang of how to use the resin so I think I'm going to create something for April :)

I gave a plain cardboard box a facelift, with lots of paint and texture to give it an old rustic appearance. I pulled out a couple ornate Tattered Angels frames from my stash that I've been saving for a few years, layered then on top of one another then gave it a coat of crackle and paint. I finished the box off with a painted heart that I made using the Ranger melting pot and UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel).

I'm entering my projects in the current Our Creative Corner challenge where the theme is to pull out some of our FORGOTTEN THINGS and put them to use. Again, I pulled out two colors of Melissa Frances German glass glitter and 2 Tattered Angels ornate frames that I have been hoarding / saving.

A Steampunk Witch's Hat...A MMCC 8 37

Hi there! So happy the weekend is nearly here! I've been looking forward to this weekend for a long time because April will be arriving early Friday morning and will be visiting us until Tuesday morning. April, her Mom and I will be working on her wedding invitations all day Sunday so Scott and I have been busy getting things together to make the production run smoothly :) Both fingers and toes crossed!

It's time for an all new Mixed Media Color Challenge! I'm so happy to see so many beautiful and inspiring projects in the gallery week after week. It seems as though many crafters from around the world are enjoying creating outside the box! For nearly the next two weeks, we will be playing with the following color combination: Lavender, Light Green and Gray.

In celebration of Halloween, I made a Steampunk Witch's Hat:

To begin, I embossed craft foil using an embossing folder then covered a paper mache witch's hat, applied black alcohol ink then adhered the feather trim around the perimeter. I topped it with a little black crow and a funky industrial like birdcage trinket:

I stamped the BOO sentiment from Trick or Sweet then framed it with an altered metal frame:

I also added another sentiment from Trick or Sweet which I stamped on a doily made using a die from Die-namics Blueprints 6:

I surrounded the sentiments with other metal trinkets, flowers, leaves and a die cut flourish:

I completed it with a shimmery metallic bow, metal gear and flower embellishment:

Let it Snow...MFT September Creative Challenge 49

Hi there! Welcome to the September MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.

This month, we on focusing on the growing collection of Peek-a-Boo style products.

To conquer this challenge, I made several cards using a variety of Peek-a-Boo Die-namics dies. First up is a card featuring the Die-namics Peek-a-Boo Trio die:

I stamped a sentiment from Document It - December in one window and embellished the other two with layered snowflakes made using Die-namics Let It Snowflake:

Up next is a card featuring the fun Die-namics Peek-a-Boo Squared die:

I embellished three of the four windows with cute hearts from Homespun Hearts and a sentiment from MPD Winged Beauties:

Last but not least, is a Halloween card featuring a spooky spider and spider web that was made using Die-namics Paper Bag Peek-a-Boos die:

I layered the spider web frame over a piece of primitive white cardstock, adhered a glitter coated spider on top and stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence Peek-a-Boo:

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend! It's Monday so it's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge on the Simon Says Monday Challenge blog! This week's theme is all about stamping on something other than the usual cardstock.

For my sample, I was inspired to create a mini burlap canvas which features a scene that I created stamping on patterned paper. Stamping on patterned paper is a great way to add that little extra detail to any project with out much effort.

For the background, I stamped the spill images, the decorative corner piece and foliage on piece of pretty patterned paper from the Tim Holtz Paper Stash French Industrial collection:

The subtle text noted in the stamped sentiment label and bird adds a bit of interest to what would have been a plain background if stamped on solid paper.
