Dream BIG...April MFT Creative Challenge 43

Hi there! Welcome to the September MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to build a scene using MFT Stamps and Die-namics.

I had so much fun with this month's theme! I created a fun spring scene on a 8 1/2" x 10" canvas board featuring the sweet girl from the MFT Doodle Garden Springtime Wishes stamp set along with a variety of Die-namics dies. I started by covering the canvas board using tissue paper and coloring with gelatos.

I stamped the little sweetie on a piece of Blending Card as well as a piece of patterned paper. I colored the image and paper pieced her dress. She is standing in front of a white fence made using Die-namics Lattice Fence. The grass was made using Die-namics Grassy Edges.

She is flying a kite that was die cut using Die-namics Jumbo Kite:

Nothing like a sunshiny spring day to fly a kite ;) I combined a few dies to create the sun: Die-namics Award Seal, Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers STAX and Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX:

I stamped a sentiment from MFT Big Greetings and created puffy clouds using Die-namics Jumbo Cloud STAX. 

I wanted to add texture so I die cut a doily using a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo die and used as a stencil as I applied a mixture of texture paste and white acrylic paint over the die cut. The white random dots all over the canvas were stamped using white acrylic paint along with a stamp from MFT LJD Darling Dots and the random text was stamped using a stamp from MFT DC First Class Friend.

Trip Of A Lifetime...MFTSCRAP7 38

Hi there and Happy Earth Day! It's time for a new MFT scrap sketch challenge! For complete details on how you can join along, please visit the MFT blog. 

Here's the fun sketch we are playing with:

For my sample, I scrapped several photos of Scott as well as the iconic London Eye that were taken a few years ago while Scott and I were on a trip visiting London. I've combined a variety of MFT products including various MFT stamps, Die-namics dies, MFT buttons and inks.

Once I created the background using Golden Crackle Paste and MFT Blu Raspberry Ink, (tutorial shown below), I was all set to embellish the layout. All the photos and main sentiment were mounted on beautiful Factory Green cs then layered on a tag made using  a Die-namics Traditional Tags STAX die. Starting in the upper left corner, I stamped a sentiment from LLD Document It - Expand Your View on a die cut tag made using Die-namics Traditional Tags STAX and finished added a Natural button that was coated with a layer of embossing enamel.

This tag features a photo of Scott standing in front of the Kensington Palace. The pocket watch was made using an image from Inspired By Time stamped using Factory Green ink. Once stamped, I cut it out, applied Kraft ink around the edges then applied a coat of Ranger Rock Candy. 

The tag in the upper right corner features a sentiment from DC Vertical Greetings II along with a canvas flower embellishment made using Die-namics Layered Rose, Kraft and Blu Raspberry Ink (tutorial shown HERE).

The next tag features a fun sentiment from LLD Document It - Captured Memories along with a lock and key that were made using Die-namics Keys and Locks.

In case you were curious to know how I created the background, I took a few photos to show you just how easy it is:

First I applied a thin coat of Golden Crackle Paste. (I put it outside in the sun to speed up the drying time ;). I've learned the hard way, if you use your heat tool to speed up the drying time be very careful not to overheat as the pastes will bubble and make a mess! 

Once dry, the cracks appeared then I made some mist with a few drops of Blu Raspberry Ink. Super easy!

The cracks remind me of the desert floor that can be seen here in AZ ;) Happy Earth Day!

Memories... 34

Hello there! Hope you are all having a great weekend! Jerry is in town for the weekend to help April pack up their belongings because she graduates in three weeks from ASU then will be moving to San Francisco as well. This morning Scott and I are going over to their apartment to help patch a few holes in the dry wall where Jerry had a television mounted. Fun times ;)

I made this layout featuring a photos of Scott, Connor, Meredith and I that were taken several years ago while we were on a camping trip at the San Diego Safari Park. We went on the caravan that takes visitors out near the giraffes and rhinos where you are able to feed them. The giraffes are quite docile but wild nonetheless. 

 I created the background using a variety of mediums along with a few different stamped arrows from MFT LLD Border It - Mod Borders. I made my own color mist using a few drops of MFT Orange Fizz ink and MFT  Lemon Drop ink.

The canvas blossom was made using Die-namics Botanical Beauty and topped off with a MFT Steel Grey button.

A "sweet" canvas... 53

Hi there! Hope you are having a great Thursday! I have the day off from work so I decided I would create this mixed media canvas featuring a photo of sweet Meredith and Griffin :) I pulled out a few of my favorite products and had lots of fun!

This project started out as something VERY different than the outcome. The canvas was originally covered with collaged tissue paper, inks and the photo that I started a few weeks ago. I didn't like the way it was looking and lost my mojo so I set it aside until today. 

I decided to completely change it's course. I applied a variety of texture pastes, spreading around the canvas with an assortment of texture tools. Once dry, I painted on a THICK layer of white acrylic paint. Once the paint was dry, the fun began as I colored and embellished the canvas.

 I stamped a sentiment from MFT Clearly Sentimental about You on a die cut made using Die-namics Fishtail Flags Layers STAX. The little banner was made using Die-namics Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX.

 I applied a small amount of gesso on a few metal embellishments and adhered a little sentiment light bulb to a fabric butterfly. I painted the Blue Fern Studios Organic Vine chipboard piece with white acrylic paint.
