Don't Be Blue... 33

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, January 27, 2013 @ 8:07 AM | , , , , ,

Hello there! Hope you are all having a great weekend! One of the many things on my 2013 crafty  to do list is to create more often than not in my art journal. I've managed to "collect" a rainbow of paints, sprays, inks, markers, crayons, etc... now I just have to take the time to play. It's been raining cats and dogs here all weekend, nearly non-stop since Friday afternoon which inspired me to create this page in my peanut size art journal.
After painting the background, I assembled and adhered 3 die cut umbrellas on the page that were made using Die-namics Umbrella Die & Stamp Set. I don't have a waterproof blue ink pad so I stamped the raindrops using blue acrylic paint.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'll be spending the day working on a few projects for the upcoming MFT February Teasers which begin Tuesday, January 29th.
Be Sweet ;)

I heart you! 41

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 25, 2013 @ 9:11 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! So happy it's Friday and even happier that I have the day off from work :) Before I start running errands which includes a visit to my gym ~ Life Time Fitness, I thought I would get a creative work out in and make a card using a fun heart and sentiment from LJD Homespun Hearts
The LJD Homespun Hearts contains many versatile images and sentiments that may be used year round to make a card for a friend, co-worker or that certain someone just to simply let them know you care about them :) Not only is the set versatile but it also coordinates with Die-namics LJD Rustic Hearts! If you love dies as much as I do, I am quite sure you will find these items AMAZING!
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Freshly Made Sketches:
Thank so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great weekend!

Cherished...MFTWSC108 41

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 10:00 AM | , , , ,

Hello! It's time for an all new My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge! Thanks to all who joined along ~ so many pretty cards! For additional inspiration from participating DT members, please be sure to visit the MFT Blog.
Here's the fun sketch we are playing with:
I flipped the sketch vertically to accomodate a cameo image and frame made using Die-namics Vintage Cameo Frame Die & Stamp Set. I added a fancy die cut border using Die-namics Dizzy Border and finished the card with blossom made using Die-namics Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose.
For a little added texture, I dry embossed the die cut frame then applied Distress ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day / evening!

Book of LOVE...MFT January Creative Challenge 53

Mona Pendleton | Monday, January 21, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , , ,

***WARNING*** This post contains MANY photos! Hope you sit back, relax and enjoy! :)

Hi there! Welcome to the January MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.
This month, we're going to be product specific and promote the Circle STAX. We'd love to see any creative project that you have to share that is based on the Circle STAX products. Think out of the box, and really WOW us with your circles my friends! Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have put their MFT stamps and/or Die-namics dies to work to create a project for you today! I really embraced this Creative Challenge and had so much fun creating a mixed media mini art album featuring Circle STAX while using a combination of many MFT stamps and Die-namics dies.

I have lots to share so let's get started...

I started with a blank canvas, added lots of layers of inks, sprays and paint. Each page features either stenciled circles that I made using a homemade stencil (shown below) or die cut circles made using a combination of Die-namics Circle STAX Set 1 and Set 2. BOTH die sets contain 10 dies each!!! The pages may look similar but like snowflakes, not two are the same ;)

The cover features a sentiment from DC Coupon Book - Love while the rest of the pages feature sentiments from this month's Triple Scoop FREE set:  You Make My Day.
Using both Circle STAX Set 1 and Set 2 dies, I die cut book page paper, adhered them in place, then doodled around them:
I also added lots of hearts on my canvas mini album using various sized Die-namics Heart STAX dies. Using my homemade stencil, (shown below), I applied paint to the canvas then doodled around to accentuate.

In case you were curious to see how used the Die-namics Circle STAX Set 1, Die-namics Circle Set 2 and Die-namics Heart STAX dies to create my own stencils, here is a tutorial.

Randomly place dies on a piece of Acrylic painting paper:
Run through die cut machine, then remove die cuts and dies:
Apply medium of choice:
Repeat previous steps using various sized Die-namics Heart STAX dies:

Here's a photo of the canvas with all the stenciled circles and hearts:

Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you enjoyed my canvas album as much as I enjoyed creating it! Remember to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have put their MFT stamps and/or Die-namics dies to work to create a project that does not use patterned paper for you today!
Be Sweet :)
