A Patchwork Star...WMSC35 62

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, February 19, 2011 @ 1:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! Here today with an all new sketch to play with for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! When I saw this sketch, so many quirky sayings ran through my mind such as Are you feeling a little star struck?, Do you see stars?, Stardom, Superstar, Shooting Star, Star gazing, etc...until I settled on

A Patchwork Star:
When I first saw this sketch I immediately thought of using the gorgeous lacy star image from Seasons of Love - Tags but then I started to think outside the star :) and came up with the idea of making a patchwork star. I have been playing with the stamp set Nestie Eggs lately so since I had it out on my crafting table, I started stamping and die cutting away!
Many moons ago, long before I began stamping, I used to do a lot of sewing and quilting. I felt right at home piecing these lil' paper squares :) After stamping and die cutting the square patches, I adhered them to a piece of cs, cut/embossed using a S4-092 Stars Five die template then stitched it on a gorgeous piece of Melissa Frances patterned paper.
Thanks so much for visiting today~hope you like what you see :) Please be sure to stop by the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site for some amazing inspiration from the Mischief Makers and several other Waltzingmouse DT members who played along:) I'll be back tomorrow with an all new CR84FN challenge. Be Sweet :)

Hi there! YAHOOOO! The weekend is almost under way~do you have any BIG plans? Not much going on around here just a small birthday celebration for my step son Connor who turned 15 on Wednesday :) Along with some girly gifts my sweetie gave me a bouquet of Tulips, (my favorite flowers), for Valentine's Day. I took a few photos of the gorgeous Tulips to share with you. Below is a pic taken in the light tent:

These beauties were the source of inspiration of the Easter card I made last night:
For sketch inspiration, I played along with the awesome Cardabilities Sketch #25.
I used the Dryer Sheet Technique on this card for a softer look:

February Friends of WMS Blog Waltz 71

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 17, 2011 @ 1:00 AM | , , ,

Hi There! Here today for the Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz. This month, Claire is challenging us all to Design with Buttons.

Once the Waltz begins, you have plenty of time to visit all the participating blogs/galleries at your leisure. A separate thread will be set up for chat and a special game for a chance to win a stamp set of choice. And, of course, we will draw a name from all those who participate in the waltz to win a stamp set of choice! The competition doesn't end until 11:59 pm Eastern on February 19th, so you have plenty of time! We are playing the "Guess the theme of TWO of the new stamp sets being released March 1st game". All the details are in the Waltzingmouse Forum (Playroom:Blog Waltzes), where you'll also find all the links for the waltz.

With Spring right around the corner, I thought I would create a few cards featuring Waltzingmouse Easter Eggs. Here in Phoenix, a sure sign of Spring are the beautiful blooms on the cacti especially the SAGUARO ;)
For sketch inspiration, I played along with the Get Sketchy Card Challenge #74:
I inked up several different Easter egg images from Nestie Eggs, layered with chipboard and glammed them up with some yummy glitter and buttons.
Next up, is a card featuring a speckled egg image from Nestie Eggs. This stamp set is jam packed with so many Easter eggs in a variety of sizes and designs and sentiments.
One can't go wrong with Easter eggs and buttons can they?
Thanks so much for looking! I'm off to Waltz along taking in all the button inspiration along the way! Be Sweet :)

Thinking of You 54

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, February 15, 2011 @ 10:50 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day ~ maybe spending it with your loved ones or doing something that you love ie: stamping/papercrafting :) My hubby, Scott and I had the day off together so we just lounged around home, went out to lunch and exchanged gifts. This weekend we went to see the movie "Just Go With It" ~ have you seen it? Oh my gosh, we had some really good belly laughs :)
I had some crafty me time tonight, so pulled out some pretty patterned paper from the girl's paperie and made this card. I stamped the Thinking of You sentiment from JustRite Stampers Fancy Tags then using a die template from JustRite Stampers Happy Everything Mini Tag Kit to create the tag. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's Card Patterns Sketch 102,
I made a butterfly embellishment using a die template from S3-146 Butterflies Two and layered it on a sweet doily using S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs.
That's all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by! I will be back tomorrow for the Friends of  Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz showing off my buttons! :) LOL
