Crimson Poppies 28

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, November 7, 2015 @ 2:05 AM | ,

Hi there! So happy the weekend is here! I've been playing around in my oversized 11" x 16" art journal, working on some techniques. I watched a how to video taught by one of my favorite artists, Ginger Cook
My art journal page was inspired by this Van Gogh shown below:
Here's my take:

I'm going to attempt to paint this again except next time, on a large 24" x 36" canvas:

I love all the texture especially in the vase:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a terrific weekend!

Merry Christmas 51

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, November 5, 2015 @ 2:12 AM | , ,

Hi there! I'm so excited to be joining along with this week's PTI Make It Monday weekly challenge! This week, DT member Melissa is challenging us to create a fabric strip Christmas tree. I combined ripped strips of muslin fabric, lace and ribbons from my stash to create my tree:
The snowflake background was heat embossed snowflake background was made using pretty snowflakes from Winter Swirls and the sentiment is from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers:
For color inspiration, I'm joining along with the current Colour me!... card challenge where we are challenged to create something using a Monochromatic colour scheme:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!

time to be creative 36

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 2, 2015 @ 10:19 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I've been playing around in my art journal again and this is what I came up with:
I'm having fun practicing different techniques and products in hopes of overcoming the fear of attacking a BIG canvas! This page was inspired by a painting I found here:
Abstract painting is quite challenging for me but I'm enjoying the process:
Lots and lots of layers:
I'm entering this art journal page in the following challenges:
For theme inspiration, I joined along with the Mixed Media Place Creative Challenge where the challenge is to create a project based on "Today is the day..."
I'm also joining along with the Monthly Mixed Media Challenge where the challenge is all about texture:
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love...Prima Product Pick challenge 17

Mona Pendleton | @ 9:28 AM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! Happy November! A new month means there's two new monthly challenges up on the Prima blog. Today I have a layout to share for the November Prima Product Pick challenge:
I created a mixed media style layout featuring a couple photos of sweet Meredith and Griffin along with a variety of Prima Color Bloom Sprays and dimension.
This month's color palette is so fun and cheerful! I focused on the shade of blue while adding a hint of the other colors to the background then embellishing with a variety of pretty flowers.

For sketch inspiration, I referred to Prima's November Build A Page sketch challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have enjoyed my layout and are inspired to join along! Please be sure to stop by the Prima blog and see the awesome DT inspiration!
Be Sweet ;)
