merry christmas... 35

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 4, 2013 @ 9:38 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week so far! After seeing Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of November tutorial, I wanted to give his chalk art technique a try and play along. I don't have all the supplies that he demonstrates with so I had to improvise along the way!
I stamped the cute snowman from Tim's Christmas Blueprint stamp set using VersaMark ink on a die cut tag made using Tim's Sizzix tag die, then I embossed using Ranger white embossing powder followed with a coat of white chalk. I added a sentiment from Tim's Simple Sayings stamp set. I don't have the coordinating die so I trimmed around the label the old fashioned way using a pair of sharp scissors.
I stamped his hat and scarf, colored with Copic markers, and trimmed around the edges the by hand using a pair of sharp scissors since I don't own the coordinating die for that stamp either.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day / evening.
I'll be back Tuesday, November 5th at 10:00 pm to kick off the MFT November Teasers! Hope to see you then!

Love, Wish, Dream... 42

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, November 3, 2013 @ 10:01 PM |

Hi there! I hope you had a super fun weekend! It's Monday, so that means it's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's challenge theme is to create something that is inspired by some patchwork.

I was inspired to create a wall hanging featuring a patchwork fabric heart.

Prior to giving my hand at stamping, I stitched together quilts. I always enjoy combining both crafts when creating. To create this hanging, I cut and pieced together strips of Eclectic Elements fabric then trimmed the fabric into a heart shape using a hand drawn pattern.
I stamped a sentiment from Stuff To Say using Jet Black ink on a piece of muslin from my stash then stitched that on to the heart and embellished with a variety of embellishments including a die cut wreath, a Metal Flower:

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week! Several 13 arts DT members including myself, will be joining along as guest detectives with the talented CSI DT for the CSI challenge #96
I created a layout featuring a photo of myself that was taken on Mother's Day a few years ago holding the beautiful fully functional Vintage typewriter that my sweet husband bought for me :)
I combined pretty 13 arts patterned papers from the Frosted Life and All is love collections. Once the papers were stitched in place, I added lots of texture and design using 13 arts Ayeeda Acrylic Primer along with the Scallops stencil. I then added even more texture using 13 arts Gel Medium and 13 arts Glass Microspheres. Once dry, I added color using 13 arts Lemon Yellow Chalk Mist
Once the background was dry, I embellished with a variety of 13 arts beautiful flowers including the following: White Paper FlowersWhite TwigsYellow RosesWhite Roses and Paper Flowers White with Green:
Evidence:
typewriter accent, typewriter font, clock, sheet music, flowers, gold metal, paint
Testimony:
use a typewriter font, Inspiration word: remember

Hi there! Hope all is well! It's time for an all new Once Upon A Sketch Challenge! The journaling theme this month is "My Happy Place"

Here's the sketch we will be playing with:
I scrapped a photo of myself that was taken at one of my most favorite happiest places ~ Venice, Italy. The city is quite beautiful to say the least and is a definite must see!
To create the background, I combined pretty patterned from the 13arts Faces of Spring collection along with the Rose Builder stencil, stamps, lots of texture mediums and acrylic paints. Once the background was completed, I embellished with a variety of die cuts including a pretty butterfly made using Die-namics Fancy Butterflies dies.
For the title, I framed a sentiment from Tropical Sensations:
I journaled on a die cut tag which I embellished with a die cut gear that was made using a die from Time Pieces. I added a crackle coating to the Imaginarium Designs chipboard Swirl Designs pieces that are adhered on top of the photo:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you liked my layout. Please be sure to visit the Once Upon A Sketch site to see what the participating DT members have created.
Be Sweet ;)
