Just Us Girls Technique Challenge......JUGS15 58

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 8, 2010 @ 10:00 PM | , , , ,

Hi Friends! Thanks to all of you who played along with the Just Us Girls sketch challenge last week! Lisa's sketch was so incredibly popular :) This week, I am the Hostess for the JUGS15 Technique challenge & I chose to Add stitching to your project! It doesn't matter if you stitch something on your card by hand, faux stitch or put your machine to use! We simply would like to see your creation in stitches! :)

Here is my card:

As you can see, I stitched the entire perimeter of each rectangle :) I was first a "sewer" before I ever dreamed of playing with paper & ink! My dear mom taught me how to sew when I was very young & I was hooked ever since. I used to make all of my daughter's dresses & doll clothes :) I dusted off my sewing machine & gave sewing a try on my cards a few months ago. Now, I can't put it away :) I am so crazy about the new MTME © Pretty Printables: Flutters & Flowers & Fluttering-by digital paper! All the DP that you see here is from those collections!

Here is my Valentine Set:

I loove to give gift sets - so how easy to give a lovely MTME © In A Pinch gift box full of Kisses!

I just had to play along with the embellish magazine's color challenge with Hearts! Doesn't this photo inspiration look soooo YUMMY, bright & cheerful :)

For sketch inspiration, I played along with the girls at Kazan's awesome sketch #43 from 2Sketches4You. That long rectangle right smack dead center, was screaming for heart embellishments :) The text on this paper is so fun & whimsical! Believe it or not, I only used ONE stamp on this card - I think that is a 1st for me! I inked up the sweet MTME © sentiment with SU Basic Black ink & stamped it then, using the smallest beautifully ornate Spellbinders Labels 5 die, I placed it right over the image & cut it out with my Sizzix Big Shot Express machine. Please be sure to visit both of the challenge sites & take a peek at what the DT's & players have created for your viewing pleasure!

The MTME © In A Pinch template is so easy to use & versatile, you can pack it full of virtually any sort of sweet treats for your Valentine! :) All 4 panels make for great space to stitch your favorite DP to :)

I hope you can join along with Just Us Girls this week :) For complete details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls & leave them some love:

Mona, this is one fantastic gift set and card!! Oh My!! All the fabulous stitched detail work, not to mention those giant scallops on the border and that tiny tag...everything is so much fun to look at, and the recipient will enjoy everything I'm sure! I made all my childrens clothes (coats, jeans, etc) when they were small too, but now that they're grown up, I don't give that old sewing machine nearly enough love:) Thanks for pushing me to get it out and use it again :)

OMG, another breath-takingly beautiful set. Your stitching in here is fantastic. I've had a broken machine for at least a year. I told the Honeybee I want a little one, easy to get in and out. Love the papers and those hearts are so full of love! Very inspirational!

Mona, this is a fabulous project! Love those polka dots! That stitching is the best I've seen! What is your secret? It adds so much to your designs!

Excuse my French, but holy CRAP, Mona! This set is over the top!!! What a fantastic color combo and your stitching looks amazing as usual! Weren't you the one who told me you had an awesome sewing machine but you never use it a few months ago? I thought I remembered you mentioning it but your stitching is like a signature style for you now I don't even remember a time when you didn't stitch! I seriously DO need lessons. My poor machine is still in the box :[

Love that you used In A Pinch also! I've been having daydreams of projects I want to make with that template! Maybe I will this weekend... Love that you added kisses and a little silver silver and pink heart charm to them! So clever girly! Thank you for a fabulous challenge this week ;]

I am loving this!!! I too was a sewer before card and paper making...in fact all my stamp purchases were based on my sewing projects...my sister and I built a business called "Cabin on the Creek"...the only problem was~we got too big too soon, if that makes sense...we live in Michigan and had people from Calif. to GA that would plan their trips to Mich based around our craft open houses...we were way over over heads....time to regroup and think it through!!

A- MAZ - ING.

What a STUNNING set Mona - really -- WOW! Love how you put it all together with some 'In a Pinch' templates too...just fab.

I think I need you to come to NY and fix my machine...then show me how to use it for REAL. lol...you can see the snow, and then head back home for sunny warmth :)

Thanks again for a terrific challenge -- I do love it - and will try to find new ways to incorporate it into my projects :)
