Just Us Girls Wild Card Challenge...JUGS18 32

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 29, 2010 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi Everyone! Thanks to all who played along with last week's Just Us Girls template challenge - so many creative gift packaging ideas! Darling Dana is our wonderful Hostess of the JUGS18 Wild Card challenge this week & she challenged us all to create a Pennant Banner to decorate our home. BONUS: focus on LOVE or VALENTINE'S DAY! Whatever your heart desires! If you are like me & have never made a pennant banner, please don't be afraid, give it a try & check out Jenn's awesome tutorial on SCS & the gallery for some inspiration:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/pennant_banner/

Here is my BE SWEET pennant banner:(I apologize for the huge photo, but it is difficult to read if it is any smaller) My Dearest Mother-In-Law, Barbara, is the one responsible for teaching me the two words: Be Sweet :) Barbara is a very soft spoken Sweet Southern women, who speaks slow & softly with a lovely Southern drawl :) Now for some pennant details: I cut the actual triangular shapes using the Cricut Celebrations cartridge then using the Sizzix Bigz Scalloped card die, I cut the scalloped edges. After rubbing the edges with Ranger Tim Holtz Vintage photo ink, I cut the scalloped strips to size (8"), then adhered them to the pennant fronts. The back side looked messy so I cut plain pink triangles, adhered them on then stitched the 3 layers together.Once the layers were stitched together, I inked up several images from the Lizzie Anne Designs Vintage Valentine set & randomly stamped the pennant. All the letters were cut using the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cart. The cool feature on this cart is the Shadow button. Which means, once I cut the letters from the Making Memories DP, I then used the Shadow feature to cut the same letters from Bazzill Pomegranate cs. After all the letters were cut, I simply layered & adhered them together. The Prima flowers are goodies I purchased at CHA. I rubbed on a bit of Ranger Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink to give them a little aged look. ALL the other flowers that you see were cut using various Cricut carts. When I was at CHA, I stumbled upon the Making Memories Love Struck DP line! I had this project in mind, so I scooped up a few sheets :)I fastened Memory Makers XL Grommets to all the corners with my Crop-a-Dile 11, then looped a piece of ribbon between 2 pennants & tied a bow to connect them.

I hope you can join along with Just Us Girls this week :) For complete details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls (found on my side bar) & Gabby, JUGS January Guest Designer. Thank you so much Gabby for sharing your awesome artistic flair with Just Us Girls! It was all our pleasure :)

Once you have your pennant banner photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your project on our Mr. Linky. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by! Be Sweet!

Tempting Hearts Total package... January PTI Blog Hop 82

Mona Pendleton | Monday, January 25, 2010 @ 4:45 PM | , , ,

Hi Everyone! I can't believe it's time again for another PTI Blog Hop! This month Nichole challenged us to create a card that has the "total package". We were encouraged to create any style card we could dream up, then take it to the next step. Embellish the interior & adorn the envelope. Maybe even adding a little something to the back of the card!

Here is my Tempting Hearts Total package:When I think of "Total package", I think of including some sort of gift packaging. What better way to present a heartfelt gift?!

Here is my Tempting Hearts card:

I was at CHA this past weekend & picked up this awesome Unity stamp set that included this Sweet Bingo like card! One of the many goodies I snagged!

I stamped the floral paper with one of the pretty PTI floral images from the PTI Beautiful Blooms set with SU Tempting Turquoise ink then followed with the outline image using Memento Tuxedo Black to help make those flowers "pop" off the paper. I layered this stamped paper with MTME © Flowers & Flutters digi paper.

I inked up the smaller pretty floral image from the PTI Beautiful Blooms set with SU Tempting Turquoise & stamped the front left corner of the envelope then followed with the floral outline & added a few SU heart images using SU Real Red ink. Really completes the envelope :)

On the inside, I inked up the Stampabilities Funky Valentine's Day stamp with Versamark then applied white embossing powder & heat set. I love how a white embossed image looks on anything :) I added a little heart embellishment cut from Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts & Hearts dies, finished it off with a button.

I inked up the "with love" SU image from the Yummy set with Versamark & embossed that with white embossing powder as well.

My entire Tempting Hearts Total package was inspired by this week's creativity challenge #13 at The Play Date Cafe featuring these "bold & beautiful" colors. Be sure to stop by The Play Date Cafe & see all the amazing photos the DT has offered up for you to view!

I cut out this MTME © Shutt-erfly template using my Cricut Expressions machine! How simple is that? I stitched on 4 panels, each containing a layer of PTI Pure Poppy & MTME © Flowers & Flutters digi paper. I love how that PTI Pure Poppy cs really makes the MTME © black & white polka dots jump right off the ©Shutt-erfly box! I made a tag with the "Sweet" bingo like card stamped image. If you look closely, that "Sweet" bingo card is full of Sweet sayings!!!!

That's it for today. Thanks for hopping by! Be Sweet!

CHA 2010 35

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, January 24, 2010 @ 1:00 AM |

***If you are looking for my JUGS17 post, please continue to scroll down***

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share some of my photos with you from CHA 2010 in Anaheim, CA. Here is a snippet of the line as we all anxiously waited in line for the doors to open at Noon on Friday. In NO particular order, the following photos are of some of the friendliest, inspiring people that I met while at CHA:

You may recognize this super accomplished stamping girl Taylor VanBruggen of Taylored Expressions. Her booth was decorated so sweetly displaying many of her wonderful stamps! They all looked so YUMMY, I couldn't resist :)
This is me & the gifted papercrafter Sankari Wegman of Sankari's Sunshine Corner. You can find her creative work at both Taylored Expressions, 2Sketches4You, Paper Craft Planet & Verve stamps.

This is me & Jenn Balcer, the Community Manager at Splitcoast Stampers. Jenn was so congenial & out-going :)

Here is the dynamic duo: Tricia Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ulberg and Meridith Anne Ethington, the owners of Lizzie Anne Designs. Their stamps are very cute, I just had to add some of these treasures to my arsenal :)

The ippity girls (Michelle Ogdahl & Angela Magnuson) were so friendly & kind-hearted. The ippity stamps are so much fun, I added a few of these to my collection too :)This is Julie Campbell of The Vintage Chic. & DT Member of The Play Date Cafe. Julie was instructing a make-n-take for Crafty Secrets.

Making Memories is giving away this pink Vespa scooter & I think my name is already etched on it! :) This is Provocraft's "latest & greatest" release! It is the Cricut Cake - an electronic personal cutting machine used exclusively for cake decorating! "Edible Art!"
You can see all the buzz this little gem was creating.

I had a blast meeting so many cordial fellow stampers all in one place & of course, doing a bit of shopping :) That's all for today! Thanks for stopping by! Be Sweet!

Just Us Girls Template Challenge...JUGS17 39

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 22, 2010 @ 10:00 PM | , ,

Happy Saturday Everyone! Thanks to all who played along with the Just Us Girls color challenge last week! There were soooo many pretty creations to gaze upon :) This week Maria is our lovely Hostess for this VERY SPECIAL 3D / TEMPLATE challenge with a TWIST! Lauren, the amazingly talented designer of the My Time Made Easy product line is sponsoring the Just Us Girls template challenge, JUGS17! Lauren has provided ALL the JUGS DT girls with one of the MTME © Pretty Packaging templates called Happy Mail © & one of the MTME © Pretty Impressions stamp set called Critters With Heart ©. The TWIST being, this challenge is also a SNEAK PEEK of just a FEW of the various MTME © products that will be available February 1st!Here is my sample of the MTME © Happy Mail template:

(Note: you can rotate this image 360 degrees by doing the following... Within the photo, click and drag your mouse pointer to the left or right to spin the box! You can also use the left and right arrows on your keyboard or use the left and right arrows icons. You can also zoom in or out to get a better view of the box by using the (+) and (-) icons. Lastly, you can simply press the Play icon (circular arrow) to rotate the box automatically. Give it a try!)

I cut my Happy Mail © Happy Bird-day template from a piece of Bazzill Cameo cs. Before assembling, I "dressed" it up with DP, stitching it right on!
From this bird's eye view :), you can see the super cute MTME © Critters With Heart bird image on the tag. I first stamped him using Memento ink then colored him using various Copic markers & repeated this step-by-step, then with a super sharp scissors, I cut him out & adhered him a few glue dots.Using the Spellbinders Longest Scalloped Rectangle die, I cut 2 strips of trim that fit perfectly without any trimming necessary!

Here is my Happy, Happy Bird-day gift set:

This sweet Happy Mail © template makes a cute, unique gift box that can be easily decorated for ANY occasion!

I tucked a small jewelry box inside! Afterall, BIG surprises come in small packages :)

I made a coordinating birthday card, repeating the paperpiecing steps for my little bird.

I just want to pinch this little bird's cheeks! He is so cute!

I hope you can join along with Just Us Girls this week :) For complete details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls, Lauren & Gabby, (January's JUGs Guest Designer) to see more inspirational MTME © SNEAK PEEKS!
