Hello! I'm so excited to be joining along with the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #1! The challenge is based on the new book by Tim Holtz! One of the challenge guidelines is that ALL participants should work from their own copy of A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3. This is required out of respect and appreciation for Tim, who put countless hours and passion into writing the book. If you don’t have a copy, you can order one directly from Tim, who will even autograph it for you :)
Challenge #1 is PAINTMARBLING ~ the "how to" may be found on page 43:
Here's a photo of the colors I used to create my paintmarbled paper. Be sure to check out Tim's A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3. page 34 for an awesome step by step tutorial!
I decided that I am going to create a 5" x 8" grungeboard book for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge. Not only is that a manageable size to work with but I will have all the techniques and projects in one place so I am able to refer back to them for inspiration when I am having one of those creative blank stare moments!
My first page features a photo of my dear sister Tina ~ who is also my weekend riding partner :) Peeking out from behind Tina is my marbled paper which I stamped and heat embossed one of Tim's stamps:
To create the base page, I collaged tissue paper on the grungeboard, applied various Distress Inks, randomly stamped the mini blueprint gear image and added a rub-on. Once I layered the photo and marbled paper to the page, I embellished with a trio of flowers that were made using Tim's pinecone die, foliage and grungeboard die cut gears:
I finished it off with a die cut grungeboard crackled heart and painted gold grungeboard gear:
For inspiration, I joined along with the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and I am also entering this in the Sunday Stamper challenge where Hels is challenging us to feature wheels on our project (in the photo :)
