Happy May! Today kicks off the first day of the May MFT Teasers.  The new products will be available on Tuesday, May  7th at 10 PM in the MFT Boutique. I have an ENORMOUS secret to share with you that I have had to keep a lid on for nearly 3 months!!! Here we go... Kim van der Sanden, the Owner of My Favorite Things has given me the once in a lifetime opportunity to design a line of products for My Favorite Things!!! Words can not even describe how honored, blessed and fortunate I feel! Kim is one of the most kindest and generous souls I've met and is such a pleasure to work for. I could not have done this without all the support, encouragement and patience from Kim, Jody Morrow as well as from my sweet loving husband, Scott. I wouldn't want to count the number of emails, number of hours spent on the telephone with Jody and countless hours that Scott has selflessly devoted to helping me make this happen! xoxo
My product line is: "Mixed Media for the Modern Crafter" and this month I would like to introduce you to my very first versatile MFT products which includes stamps, dies and stencils. ALL may be used for ANY style of stamping / crafting and on ANY type of project ie: cards, layouts, art journal pages, altered items, etc... the possibilites are endless.

Today, I am sharing a few projects made using:

Dandelion Wishes which contains a variety of fun Dandelion images with an artsy / abstract vibe as well as an assortment of versatile sentiments.
Dandelion Stems and Toppers Die-namics which coordinates with Dandelion Wishes or may be used alone:
Distressed Background Blocks is just that, a versatile set of background stamps:
Two of the three stencils that I am introducing this month are: the Square Motif Stencil:
and the Graduated Dots Stencil:
First up, is a layout featuring Dandelion Wishes, Distressed Background Basics and the Square Motif Stencil. I first created the background using the Square Motif Stencil along with Gesso. Once dry, I misted the entire canvas portion of the layout with mist that I made using Kraft ink. Once that was dry, I randomly misted using mists made from a few drops of: Black Licorice, Razzle Berry and Kraft inks. I wanted the Square Motif design to pop a little more so I placed the stencil back on the layout and applied white acrylic paint mixed with molding paste.
I stamped a trio of Dandelions from Dandelion Wishes on die cuts made using dies from Dandelion Stems and Toppers Die-namics. The sentiment is from Dandelion Wishes and was stamped on an oval die cut made using a Die-namics Oval STAX Set 1 die then layered on a label that was made using a Die-namics Designer Labels 2 STAX die.
I randomly stamped the background using the chicken wire stamp from Distressed Background Blocks:
I also have a few cards to share featuring a combination of stamps from both Dandelion Wishes and Distressed Background Blocks along with various dies from Die-namics Blueprints 3 ~ which I LOVE and you will surely be seeing ALOT of over the next week! On my first card, I used the same sentiment as on the layout just to show how easily you can make any sort of project using Dandelion Wishes.
I heat embossed a seeding Dandelion image from Dandelion Wishes:
as well as the checkerboard pattern from Distressed Background Blocks
The second card features more images from Dandelion Wishes and Distressed Background Blocks. The sentiment is from Dandelion Wishes and was stamped on a die cut made using Die-namics
On this card, I heat embossed a blooming dandelion image from Dandelion Wishes
along with the polka dot pattern from Distressed Background Blocks:
Here are my homemade papers that I used to create the cards shown today. I used both the the Graduated Dots Stencil, the Square Motif stencil, the Gelli Arts plate and various colors of Martha Stewart pearls acrylic paint.
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you enjoyed my projects today!

Hi there! It's time for a new sketch to play with at Once Upon A SketchThis month, we ask you to include a number, ANY number, on your layout. It has to be VISIBLE and it can be in your title or part of your journalling. It can be a date, an age, a house number, an anniversary, the number of children you have, the number of pets .... anything you like. But please make sure that there is some explanation through your journalling, somewhere on your page or blog about what this number means to you.
I made a layout featuring a photo of Emily, Connor and Meredith prior to the Homecoming dance. After creating the background with various sprays, molding paste and gesso, I was ready to embellish the page with various chipboard pieces from Imaginarium Designs that I altered as well. The beautiful frame around the photo is an Imaginarium Designs Anna Frame. The tag was made using a Die-namics Traditional Tag STAX die which features my journaling along with ID chipboard altered numbers.
Shown below are a few manufactured blossoms along with fancy ID flourishes
and all three butterflies on the page are from ID as well. I cut a doily in two that was made using a Die-namics Dizzy Doily Duo die and adhered those pretty little chipboard butterflies.
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you liked my layout. Please be sure to visit the Once Upon A Sketch site to see what the participating DT members have created.

Miss You 39

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, April 28, 2013 @ 11:49 AM | , , , , , ,

Hello! Are you having a good weekend? I sure hope so! Today I have a few projects to share using some fun paper that I made using the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. It makes it so easy to create your own "artsy" looking paper without a whole lot of effort ~ gotta love that ;)
I made this card featuring three die cut hearts that were made using Die-namics LJD Rustic Hearts and my "artsy" papers.
I was inspired by the current Collage Obsession challenge where the theme is Mail Art, to randomly stamp various images from DC First Class Friend on the text paper. I also dry embossed a Kraft cs using a postage themed embossing folder then dry brushed Gesso across to highlight to embossed images.
For me, variety is the spice of my crafting life so I made a little decoration using Die-namics Mini Album Bracket STAX for my sweet sister Tina who has been away working in New Mexico for the past 3 weeks. I'm going to surprise her and hang this somewhere in her kitchen so she finds it when she returns home next week :)
For the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with Freshly Made Sketches:
and for color inspiration for both projects, I joined along with Paperdvizhnik:
Thanks so much for dropping by ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!

Born To Fly... 31

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, April 27, 2013 @ 4:25 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! When I was at the craft store the other day, I spotted a super McCall's cute owl pattern that was just asking for me to take her home ;) This was one of those items that I was just dying to play with and couldn't resist any longer! So I pulled out lots of supplies including my smaller art journal and this is what I created:
Before I could make her, I first created my own colorful paper:
There are lots of layers of various products on this page. The background was collaged using pieces from all the papers shown above and so is my girl. To create her eyes and the circles on the page, I used dies from both Die-namics Circles STAX Set 1 and 2 to die cut book page paper.
The random text was stamped using the text image from MFT DC First Class Friend and the Born To Fly sentiment and die cut is from Die-namics Airplane Greetings Die & Stamp Set.
I embarrassingly purchased the Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate (shown below) back in December from a local stamping store and just pulled it out several days ago! YIKES! I don't know what I was thinking!!! Oh my gosh ~ the paper that you can create with this along with any of your favorite stencils, stamps, paints, sprays, etc... is limitless and SUPER easy!
For color inspiration, I joined along with the colourQ Challenge
Thank you very much for visting ~ I hope you have an awesome weekend!

Courage... 37

Mona Pendleton | Friday, April 26, 2013 @ 11:06 AM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I have the day off from work with a little time to spare for crafting before I spend the day running necessary errands so I pulled out my neglected small 5" x 8" art journal and created a page. One of the things I find challenging about creating "mixed media" projects is the ability to let go of the preconceived notion that everything on my project needs to be just so. That is so untrue ~ it's ok that everything doesn't line up perfectly or you have a splash of this or that here and there. I personally think that all contributes to making it look artistic and opens the creative door without any rules! Sort of going rogue if you will ;)
Here are a few details about this page: The die cut circles were made using Die-namics Circles STAX Set 1 and 2 dies, the sentiment was stamped using one of the wonderful sentiments from MFT DC Vertical Greetings and the randomly stamped text was stamped using the text image from MFT DC First Class Friend.
I am entering this in a few challenges: The Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme is "Sentimental" ~ to focus on a sentiment and for color inspiration, I joined along with The Play Date Cafe:
Many thanks for visiting ~ I hope I inspired to create without any rules! LOL

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, April 24, 2013 @ 9:00 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! It's Wednesday so that means it's time for an all new My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge! For additional inspiration from participating DT members, please be sure to visit the MFT Blog.
Here's the fun sketch that we will playing with:
I pulled out one of my very first MFT stamp sets to create this card ~ Die-namics Sew Nifty Die-namics Die & Stamp Set.
I stamped one of the many fun sentiments from Die-namics Sew Nifty Die-namics Die & Stamp Set using Black Licorice ink and die cut a spool using the spool die from the set which I then wrapped with embroidery floss. I finished it off with a trio of Sno Cone buttons
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!
