Baby It's Cold Outside! 41

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 12, 2009 @ 1:51 PM | , , ,

Good Afternoon Girls! It's really not that cold outside here in Phoenix - it's actually 103 degrees! My stepdaughter, sister, my doggies & I just got done swimming! The pool temp is 90 degrees :) Before I head off to a Bachelorette party tonight, I wanted to share my entry with all of you for both the DRS Sketch Challenge over at Caardvarks using Sketch #1 & Samantha's Christmas Combo #1 over at Scrapmaster's Paradise. For amazing inspiration, I recommend that you visit both of these sites! The color scheme that Samantha chose for her Xmas combo #1 made me think of drinking a piping hot mug of dark, rich chocolatey cocoa on a snowy wintry day! I have lived in Phoenix for over 12 years & have seen it snow here in the desert believe it or not! It melted as soon as it hit the ground but growing up in Buffalo, NY was a different story! I think Buffalo is pretty well-known here nationwide if you live in the US for the great amount of snow that falls! (93.6 inches of snow per year!!!!) That is why I now live in the desert & take an annual ski trip! :) I'd love to know if you prefer warm, sunny days or a cold, wintry nights? Thanks for stopping by! Be Sweet!

Heat embossing with Ultra Fine Filigree white embossing powder makes the snowflakes from the PTI Snowflake Serenade set POP right off that SU Chocolate Chip paper!

Using the "brayer" technique, I created some Custom Embossed DP using SU Bordering Blue ink along with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes EF. More "popping" snowflakes! :)
For a Bird's Eye view:

A lil' extra detail on the inside:

I punched the snowflakes out using the Martha Stewart Snowflake punches x 3, layered each x 2 & placed a Making Memories crystal eyelet in each!

You all probably know by now, I looooove gift sets, tags & LOTS of ribbon! I made a Hot Cocoa gift set ensemble using ONE of my faves, the PTI My Timeless Template Pack a Picnic template. These templates are sooo incredibly easy to cut & their use has endless possibilities!

Other Ingredients Used:

Paper: SU Bordering Blue, Kraft, Whisper White

Ink: VersaMark

Sprinkles: Spellbinders Scalloped Circles & Circle nesties, SU tag punches, Offray ribbon

First off, I'm a winter girl! No 103 degree weather for me! How do you stand that kind of heat. Must be a "dry heat"?
This card fits me well; I love the wintery feeling. You did such a great job with the snowflakes and the embossing! That cup of hot cocoa looks inviting! I also love your gift basket. Great job!

This is GORGEOUS!! We saw rain in the desert last year. Even the Moroccans don't believe us, but it rained every day we were there. Craziness!
