Scalloped Top Purse Tutorial and Video!

Hi Everyone! Well here it goes! Please be patient with me, this is ALL a learning experience!

Finished Purse measures 6 1/2" W x 4 3/4" H x 1 1/2 D

Using the Cricut Accent Essentials Cartridge, you will need to select the Shadow, Real Size, Shift Lock buttons for EVERY design. Always use the Real Size Dial to dial in the size for EVERY design.

1. On your Cricut Expression Machine, select

the Shadow, Real Size, Shift Lock and the

scalloped label design (pg 79). Using the Real Size dial in 4". Cut x 2. Repeat same steps for the next 2 layers, dialing in 4 1/2", then 5".

(Using the Cuttlebug embossing folder, I embossed the 4" layer prior to adhering to the other layers)

Adhere three layers together x 2.

2. After adhering layers together, trim 1/4" off of both side pieces, (provides flat surface for top flap of purse to rest on). Set aside.

3. On your Cricut Expression Machine, select

Shadow, Real Size, Shift Lock and the scalloped circle design (pg 37). Using the Real Size Dial, dial in 4". Repeat same steps for the next 2 layers, dialing in 5", then 6 1/2".

(Using the Cuttlebug embossing folder, I embossed the 4" layer prior to adhering to the other layers, I also used the In Stitch'z by Bazzill 8 x 8 circles template to pierce around the circumference of the 6 1/2" scalloped circle).

5. Find center of each scalloped circle,

(I have found that center point to be the groove that has 16 scallops to the right and 16 to the left)

score a line 3/4" to the right of this center point and to the left of center point.

6. Adhere all scalloped circles together.

7. Place XL eyelets where desired for handles.

(I placed the eyelets 3/4" in from both left and right sides). Cut 14" piece of 1" grosgrain ribbon for handle. Thread through one eyelet at a time and tie in knot. Make handle to desired length of your choice. Trim ribbon after tieing knots.

8. Measure 3/4 " up from bottom of 4" scalloped circle, pierce holes then place three brads. Center and adhere decoration to this side of flap (FRONT)

9. Repeat step 8 on other side but do not place brads at this time! Set aside.

10. Cut a piece of cardstock 8" x 7 1/2". On the 8" side, score 1" from each edge. On the 7 1/2 " side, score at 3" from each edge. Cut score lines that are at the center point as indicated on photo.

Fold box on score lines and using adhesive of choice, adhere sides together to make box.

11. On the inside of both sides of purse, lightly mark a line 3/8" from bottom of scalloped label. Using this line as a guide, adhere box to both sides.

12. Attach purse topper with 3 brads to one side. Use an adhesive velcro circle for closure.

I hope this helps! Please share your creations with me! Feel free to post any comments or questions you may have. Have a lot of fun decorating your purse!

Until next time...

Scrappin' Time!
Hi Everyone!
I have been working on a few different things lately! I have taken a little break from card making and have been working on the completion of scrappin' a ski trip to Squaw Valley, CA 2008! I have also been working on putting together a video tutorial on how to make the Purse of Plenty! (smiles) That's a lot of work, I don't want to make a fool of myself for everyone to see! I have found my style of scrappin' to be "theme" oriented, some of you may find it boring or repetitive but I personally like the way things flow. Based on the overall color scheme of the photos, I gather all the "candy" for the project. With such an overwhelming amount of beautiful paper out there, I find it difficult to make a decision! Then the fun begins! I hope you like these pages! Be sweet! Until next time...

My Little Purse of Plenty!

Hi Everyone! I finally had the chance to make the coordinating purse/gift bag to hold the cards for my girlfriend! I was inspired by Becky's Top Note Purse Tutorial found at http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com. I needed a gift bag to hold standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards, so I got a little creative with the Cricut Expression, and altered her directions to make this size purse. I think this purse is so versatile, I call it "My Little Purse of Plenty!" I am sure it will look great in any color scheme and decorated for any occasion! I am looking forward to making this in many colors and blinged out! If anyone is interested in the altered directions for this size purse, please let me know and I will then post them! I hope you like it! As my mother-in-law would say, "Be Sweet!" Until next time...

My blog got a Facelift!
Hi Everyone! I am very happy that my DH helped me update and spruce up my blog! What do you think? I hauled a few of my favorite items outside for the photoshoot! (smiles) It was very difficult to narrow down the supplies to put in that photo because I really love and use a lot of different stuff! I surely could have filled up that table! I am hoping that I will get my act together and make some tutorials pertaining to scrapbooking and cardmaking in the near future! Until then, I will just continue posting creations that I have made to share.

Celebration Card continued!
I made these two cards to coordinate along with the birthday card for my girlfriend's niece. I am going to make a set of these cards, 2 of each, along with a coordinating gift bag. I haven't gotten around to the bag yet, hopefully tomorrow after work! I hope you like them! Until next time...

Celebration Card! 5

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, March 7, 2009 @ 10:59 PM | , , , ,

Celebrate Many Things!

Hi Everyone! My long time friend asked me to make a card for her special niece's birthday using the color purple and polk-a-dots. With a little creative thinking and playing with colors, this is what I came up with! I also needed a generic celebration card for two of my colleagues celebrating their official letter of acceptance into Nursing School! On the inside of many of my cards, I use the versatile SU set God's Blessings, as I did with these cards. I am planning on making an assortment of cards and coordinating bag using both this color scheme and stamp sets. So, I better get stamping! I hope you like it! Until next time...

Supplies used:

Stamps: SU Wonderful Words II, Time Well Spent, God's Blessings

Paper: SU Almost Amethyst, Chocolate Chip, Bazzill Chiffon, Generic Watercolor paper

Ink: StazOn Timber Brown

Accessories: Spellbinders Large and Small Scalloped Circles, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, SU Water Color Wonder Crayons, Jo-Ann Craft Essentials antique brown brads, EK Success 2" and 1 1/2" circle punches, SU paper piercing tool set

Feeling Lucky! 7

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hi Everyone! Even if you are not Irish or Catholic, as it is said "Everyone's Irish on March 17th!" Although according to legend, St Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish, I chose to use a four leaf clover on my non-denominational card. On the inside, I wrote a little note to the recipient expressing how lucky I am for their friendship! I found these two Stampabilities stamps at Hobby Lobby 50% off! Here is a bit of history trivia - the first St. Patrick's Day parade held in Boston was in 1761! I hope you like it. Until next time...

Supplies used:

Stamps: Stampabilities Shamrock, Funky St. Patrick's Day

Paper: Bazzill Pear, SU Black, Whisper White, Old Olive, Certainly Celery

Ink: SU Classic Black

Accessories: Slice Noteabilities Design Card, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, 3M adhesive, Zots glue dots, Quickutz Clover, generic ribbon, Jo-Ann Craft Essentials black brads
