sending sunny thoughts 26

Hi! I can't thank those of you enough who left such kind and heartfelt comments regarding my dear sister and for keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate that more than you know. I will certainly keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers as well. I had a great time visiting my sister and her family, reminiscing of childhood memories and making new ones. Needless to say, talking with sister about end of her life decisions including when to stop treatments, hospice and my departure at the airport were the most heart wrenching moments that I have experienced since I lost my Mom 13 years ago. Today I have an 11" x 14" painting to share which was inspired by Nancy Medina's Strawberry Sunflower Bouquet video tutorial:
You may be wondering where the strawberries are... well, I'm practicing and I didn't leave enough room for them because I wanted to paint the flowers instead :). I am going to try to paint this again on a larger canvas with a few changes:

I'm going to join along with Paint Party Friday:
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Be Sweet :)

Mona Im so happy you were able to visit with your sis! I know that the things you had to discuss were heart wrenching Mona, but also what a blessing to be able to be there with her and share that burden with her. Hopefully you will be able to spend a little more time with her soon. Your painting is wonderful! I love the sunflowers and the cheerfulness of the whole composition! You did a fantastic job :)

This is a beautiful painting, Mona. I love the strong colors - they give the delicate flowers strength. I wish that same strength for your sister, and also for you and your entire family. I know this is a difficult time, and I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Dear Mona, I am glad that the visit with your sister brought and made some good memories. Stay strong my dear...
About your painting...it is funny that the detail that caught my eye was not color or flower. It was the glass vase the flowers are in. Don't know why, but it just looks mesmerizing. Another stunning painting Mona!
Have a great week

I am catching up and just read about your sister. It must be wonderful to be with your sister in these difficult days.. But speaking of big decisions such as when to stop treatments must have been heartbreaking for all of you. Cancer is such a horrible disease. I hope that your sister will have wonderful moments although I realise time is short.

Your painting is gorgeous and I hope you can find some peace when you are painting. Thinking of you; take care....
