painting brilliant tulips 15

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, July 28, 2016 @ 6:47 AM | , ,

Hi there! It's been awhile...I hope all is well with you. I'm taking a painting 5 week e-course called Painting Brilliant Colors with one of my favorite artists ~ Nancy Medina. I fell in love with Nancy's use of brilliant colors and impressionist style. Today I have brilliant tulips to share which was from week one's lesson. I have a lot of practicing to do...I think the tulips look more like roses and I really don't like the shade of the lightest green leaves because I think I mixed too much yellow in it. This sample was painted on a 12" x 12" gessoed canvas board. Practice, practice, practice...

Here's my second attempt on an 8" x 8" gessoed board.

I'm linking up to this week's Paint Party Friday:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great day!

I do love seeing your paintings, Mona! The colors on the second one really appeal to me--vibrant & beautiful--love the impressionistic style of the blooms & leaves!

I love love those bold colors Mona!! Both are fabulous, looks like they came straight from the garden! I especially love the way you did the vase on the second one, the glass looks So real! You are doing an amazing job on your paintings :)

Hope you're doing well too Mona!! These are both lovely. I like that you brought the aqua color from the vase up into the floral mix, it draws your eye through the whole painting. Very pretty!

I'm so happy to see more of your paintings! They always brighten my day. :) I love tulips. They are one of my favorite flowers - simply designed, yet elegant, colorful and classic. Yours have all these qualities.
