With Sympathy 41

Mona Pendleton | Monday, August 3, 2015 @ 8:35 AM | ,

Hi there! I hope you off to a great start of the new week! Today I have a sympathy card to share that I made for my DD Angie. One of Angie's girl friends from high school was injured in a motorcycle accident and has passed away. She was only a baby at 25 years young. Angie is flying to Buffalo tomorrow for the service celebrating the young girls life.
I joined along with the Grand Finale Compendium of Curiousities Challenge Volume 3which was to create a project featuring the Layering Stencil: Monoprint technique:
To create my layered monoprint background, I first painted white cardstock using Spun Sugar Distress Paint then I added lots of interest using the following Tim Holtz stencils: Hearts, Dot Fade and Harlequin along with Picked Raspberry Distress Paint, Tarnished Brass Distress Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink:
I embellished the card with a beautiful gold highlighted die cut / embossed butterfly and pretty blossom from my stash:
I'm also joining along with the following challenges:
For sketch inspiration, the retrosketches sketch challenge:
as well as The Mixed Media Card Challenge:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!

Be Sweet ;)

I am so sorry to hear you had to make this card due to this tragic accident. Such an immense loss for her parents. So unfair to loose a child. She was too young. Life is not fair from time to time. Your card will bring some comfot for sure. It;s beautiful and I know it will be cherished.
I am also sorry for your daughter; it must be so hard to say goodbye to a friend. Sending a hug!

What a lovely, tender card, Mona. A beautiful way to express your love and sympathy. I was looking closely to see how you'd created your background but couldn't identify the stencils until I read your blog text. They combine amazingly to create an interesting foundation. Just beautiful!
