Live 35

Mona Pendleton | Friday, July 4, 2014 @ 11:22 AM | , , ,

Hello and Happy 4th of July to all those who celebrate! Any big plans? We are just enjoying the day off from work, relaxing at home :) Angie has been out of town this week and I wanted to surprise her with this mixed media canvas that I made for her which features a recent photo of herself:
It's been awhile since I played with a canvas and paints. I recalled the tips and techniques that I learned from taking a class instructed by Finnabair and it all seemed to come together.
I used lots of lace and metal embellishments to create the layered background:
along with a variety of paints, inks and sprays to get the look I was hoping for:
For color inspiration, I joined along with the current colour me...! challenge and I am also entering this in Paint Party Friday:
Here are a few steps I took along the way sharing my creative process:

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!
Be Sweet ;)

what a wonderful canvas featuring Angie, Mona! thanks for sharing how you made this - I've wondered how so much depth was achieved - it looks so plain with just the metal - and then adding the pastes and colors is just magic!!
