JustRite Stampers October Release Day #2 46

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, September 28, 2011 @ 7:00 AM | , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to Day #2 of the JustRite Stampers October Release! Today, we are sharing samples made using Lace Borders. However, to create my project that I am sharing today, I combined Lace Borders with Old Friends and Grandma's Doilies. To change things up a bit I created a mix media canvas. I pulled out a 8" x 8" canvas and combined these beautiful stamps with paint and paper sharing with you how versatile these stamps really are. Not limited to card making or scrapbooking projects.
Before I could begin to stamp, I first painted the canvas using Gesso then using Claudine Hellmuth Multi-medium Matte, I created a collage background using patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue Collection. Once the base layer was dry, I adhered the flower leaves and stems then white washed over using Claudine Hellmuth Studio One Canvas paint. The flower centers were made by stamping 3 different images from Grandma's Doilies and finished with fancy Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue Jumbo Buttons. The stems were completed by stamping an image from Lace Borders:
Using another pretty image from Lace Borders, I stamped the upper right hand corner of the canvas. I love the not so precise look giving it an rustic look. What do you think? Can't go wrong with a multi-layered butterfly fluttering through my flower garden:

I really love mixed media and vintage-y stuff, but have never had the nerve to try it. Your canvas is awesome and I love how you used the lace borders as stems. Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to Michael's to pick up some gesso. Thanks for the inspiration.
