Happy Spring! Yesterday was a beautiful spring day here in Arizona. My sweet sister Tina and I hit the hiking trail at 7:30 am to tackle our 5.5 mile mountain hike. The desert is in full bloom. Here's a picture of a Fendler Hedgehog cactus that we passed along the way:

Today I have a 12" x 12" gessoed art board to share featuring a single red rose Gary Jenkins style.

I painted this piece as I followed along with Gary's A Red Vase video tutorial. I love the simplicty of this composition:

It has been so hot here and we have had rain which has been wonderful even if we still have water restrictions ... we are hoping for more rain soon. Love that cactus. So vibrant.
