Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Our temps are back to normal - in the mid 70's and sunny so Tina and I have been enjoying the long holiday weekend, riding our bikes everyday. Today I have a card to share that I made for the MFTWSC sketch challenge. and I also wanted to share a link with you to a project that I made for MFT that may be viewed on the MFT blog ~ HERE. I would really be thrilled if you would check it out :)
Here's this week's sketch:
This sketch was perfect for showcasing the sweet girl from the Pure Innocence Warm Wishes stamp set along with cute little snowflakes and a sentiment from the Pure Innocence Thanks Snow Much stamp set:
After stamping, coloring and trimming around the girl, I adhered her on a die cut panel that was made using a die from the Die-namics Blueprints 8 set then topped it off with 2 Jellybean Green buttons and die cut decorative pieces made using dies from the Die-namics Blueprints 8 set.
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you join along in the fun! You have the opportunity to win a $20. gift certificate to the MFT Boutique! Be sure to visit the MFT blog for additional inspiration.

Feel free...CSI100 23

Mona Pendleton | Friday, November 29, 2013 @ 4:01 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! Several members of the 13 arts DT members including myself, will be joining along as guest detectives with the talented CSI DT for the CSI challenge #100!
I created a layout featuring a photo of Meredith that was taken a few years ago while we were vacationing on Kauai.
To create this layout, I first created the sunburst designed background using the brick patterned paper from 13 arts All Is Love set. Once I had the background stitched in place, I added a lot of texture using a combination of my all time favorite 13 arts products ~ Glass Microspheres D2 mixed with Gel Medium
Once the texture mediums were dry, I lightly applied 13 arts Ayeeda Matte Lemon Paint and 13 arts Ayeeda Gesso:
I embellished with a 13 arts White Twig and a beautiful 13 arts Paper Flower Cream.

Colors: All colors used

Evidence: Stars, brick patterned paper, lightbulb

Testimony: Journaling features the word light.

Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you like my layout! Please be sure to visit the CSI site as well as the 13 arts blog for some amazing inspiration and for COMPLETE details on how you too can join in the fun!
Be Sweet ;)

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! I have MANY things that I am thankful for and one of them is YOU, the ones who take the time to visit my blog :) I can't thank you enough for not only taking the time to visit but I'm so grateful for the kind and encouraging comments. They mean so much!

I took some time for myself to create this sweet owl painting simply for fun! I am pretty sure she will leave the nest here at my house and find a new one at Tina's :) If you missed my other girl, you can see her HERE on THIS post.
After creating the background with a variety of paints, I sketched on the owl then brought her to life with LOTS of layers of paint. Once the project was dry, I applied various rub-ons from my stash. My dear husband Scott says I that I "tatted" her wing with that flower rub-on! :) LOL
For added texture and design, I used the Teardrop Stencil:
I'm a work in progress and I feel as though there is plenty of room for improvement! I can't wait to get painting another! :) If you are interested in learning how to paint an owl, I took the on-line course "How to paint an owl 2" from the talented artist Juliette Crane and I highly recommend it!
Thanks so much for visiting and thanks again from the bottom of my heart for your support!
Be Sweet ;)

Merry Christmas 44

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 25, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the June MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! Just in case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we are creating Projects that Warm the Heart.
I created a couple of tags to adorn the gift packaging that contain homemade baked goodies inside for my dear sister, Tina and DH, Scott. They were made with LOTS of love and from the heart :)

First up is a mixed media burlap tag that was die cut using one of the many versatile dies from the Die-namics Blueprints 9 set.
Once I die cut the burlap paper, I applied a coat of Gesso, added texture and design using the Petal Circles stencil. I added a variety of inks and paint then randomly stamped the text image from Collage Backgrounds.
I topped it off with a pink lemonade die cut Poinsettia and a sentiment from Starry Christmas:
Next up is die cut burlap tag that was made using a Die-namics Decorative Circle Tag STAX die and a store bought treat box that I stamped using the Sheet Music Background stamp:
Once I die cut the burlap tag, I applied a coat of Gesso, stamped the Sheet Music Background then splashed on MIX-ables Steel Shimmer Mist. I topped it off with a die cut wreath and sentiment from Starry Christmas:
I also made a holiday painting that will hopefully warm the hearts of my holiday company. I recently took an online course ~ How To Paint An Owl 2 taught by the talented Juliette Crane so I wanted to incorporate one of my hooties for the creative challenge.
After painting the owl, I added design to the background using the Petal Circles Stencil then randomly stamped and heat embossed snowflakes from Sophisticated Snowflakes:
I adhered a die cut heart that was made using Die-namics Hearts a Plenty die to her belly then outlined and stamped using the polka dot stamp from Distressed Background Blocks
For the title, I stamped one of the sentiments from Starry Christmas then randomly stamped the chicken wire stamp from Distressed Background Blocks:
I think these goodies will warm my loved ones hearts :) Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday if you celebrate and if not, have a great day regardless! Please be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who will be warming your heart today!

merry christmas 44

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, November 24, 2013 @ 10:01 PM |

Hi there! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! It's Monday so that means it's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week, DT member, Ashli is challenging us to use holiday countdown or create a holiday project using numbers as inspiration to create our project.

I was inspired to create a patchwork holiday wall hanging featuring the number 25 for December 25th:
The cute Holiday Mini Blueprints images simply bring a smile to my face and warms my heart. I cut and stitched together 6 fabric Eclectic Elements patchwork pieces then stamped 3 darling Mini Blueprints images on a piece of muslin from my stash.
For the title, I stamped a sentiment from Simple Sayings
I embellished with a variety of metal trinkets and stickers.

sending Cheerful Thoughts 41

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, November 21, 2013 @ 9:50 PM | , ,

Hello! So happy it's Friday! Today I have a couple of Sympathy cards to share that I made for my dear MIL and her sister. Scott's Great Uncle passed away recently so I really needed to get these off in the mail. The first one features a beautiful frame and sentiment from Vintage Frames.
I stamped the frame using Berrylicious ink on a coordinating die cut made using the Die-namics Vintage Frame. I then layered it on top of beautiful die cut doilies made using Die-namics Oval Decorative Doilies DUO dies then topped it off with a die cut Royal Rose:
The second card features features a combination of the Woodgrain Background stamp and a sentiment from the Get Well Wishes stamp set which is November’s Free With $60 set.
I embellished it with a beautiful blossom that was made using the Die-namics Hybrid Camellia Flower die and a couple of leaves made using Die-namics Layered Leaves.
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, November 20, 2013 @ 7:24 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! Hope all is well with you! It's time for an all new MFTWSC sketch challenge.
Here's the sketch we will be playing with:
I had a lot of fun with the sketch making a couple of rather clean and simple Christmas cards featuring the Starry Christmas stamp set along with a variety of dies. To create the first card, I used the Die-namics Peek-a-Boo Stars die to cut the fun star background:
I stamped the dove image from Starry Christmas using Cotton Candy ink on the coordinating die cut then layered it on top of a die cut Open Scallop Doily:
For the second card, I die cut the background using the Die-namics Dispersed Dots die:
I stamped the Christmas tree image from Starry Christmas using Berrylicious ink on the coordinating die cut then layered it on a die cut Dainty Doily:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you join along in the fun! You have the opportunity to win a $20. gift certificate to the MFT Boutique! Be sure to visit the MFT blog for additional inspiration.
