Loving cards 67

Mona Pendleton | Monday, August 30, 2010 @ 9:14 AM | , , ,

Hi Blogging Friends! I hope you all had a safe & fun weekend :) I had some "me" time so I played with some of my favorite papercrafting goodies! I am lovin' all the new My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Collection which includes this soft aqua/blue shade from the Market Street/Happy Birthday line. Rather than saving & hoarding it, I put it to good use & made a few cards for my loved ones. I think it is so romantic looking so I paired it with this beautiful embossed lacey heart image from the Waltzingmouse Seasons of Love - Tags set. For sketch inspiration, I referred to this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #12, WMSC12.Close up, you can see how well the Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® S4-136 Classic Heart die template cuts/embosses the pretty heart image.

I was having so much fun, I made a similar Pretty in Pink version using most of the same goodness. I swapped out the DP using My Mind's Eye Market Street/Princess & Madison Avenue/Happily Ever After & the sentiment. The Waltzingmouse Seasons of Love - Tags set is full of quite a variety of images so I changed things up a bit & inked up a different sentiment that I cut/embossed using a S4-110 Classic Ovals LG die template.

Not only did I have time to create but I also had time to meet & visit Carole Beath. Carole & I somehow connected through Blogosphere!
Carole is so talented in many forms of art including papercrafting, sewing, painting, calligraphy to name a few! Here is a photo of all the homespun goodies Carole sent me home with. Carole also generously gave my sister, Tina tubs of crochet thread & yarn! I am so thrilled to have met a new friend! We are making plans to have a monthly crafty play date :)
That's all I have to share today! I hope you are off to a great start of the week! Be Sweet :)

Vintage Ornaments 33

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, August 28, 2010 @ 10:52 PM | , ,

Hi There! I had some time to play today so I would like to share a few things I made:
First up, using a LF-190 Grand Labels Four die template, I made this Festive wall hanging featuring the image with a trio of Vintage ornaments from the JustRite Vintage Christmas 3 1/4" set. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's JustRite Friday Challenge #033. I flipped the sketch so I could highlight all three lil' ornaments each paired with a different frame from the Hearts Come Home 2" set.

After stamping the ornament image, I cut each lil' one out & colored them using an assortment of Copic Markers. Using a foam square, I popped each one up then adhered a lil' bow & pearl.

Next up, I made this card featuring the complete trio of Vintage ornaments in it's entirety:

This cluster of ornaments makes a wonderful focal point - don't you think?

After inking up the trio of ornaments image, I used a S4-114 Standard Circles LG die template to cut/emboss the image & a larger S4-114 Standard Circles LG die template to cut/emboss the circular sentiment. Up close, you can see how flawlessly these JustRite images fit with the Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® die templates.
Here is the collection of Copic Markers I used on both of these projects:

That's all for today - I hope you get some crafty time to yourself this weekend! Thanks for looking :)

Witchy Wishes...WMSC12 30

Mona Pendleton | @ 12:00 AM | , ,

Hi There :) Another week has flown by, Saturday again & time for another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! Here is my take on this week's fun sketch: I spotted this fun Echo Park Halloween themed paper at my LSS & fell in love with those big multi-colored polka dots & the funky font. I have been wanting to create something using the neat Wanda's Brew image from the Waltzingmouse Wanda's Pantry set so I snatched this paper up & skipped out the store! You know how much I love to make lil' tags - well, I inked up the lil' Happy Halloween sentiment & created a tag using the teensy S4-190 Labels Four die template.

I took the liberty & flipped the sketch horizontallyAs you can see up close, how nicely the S4-190 Labels Four die template fits around Wanda & all that neat verbage :)What do you think of that Ric Rac border? I made that using the S4-243 Ric Rac Diamond Borderabilities® Petite die template. One of the many things I love about the Spellbinders™ Borderabilities® besides the ability to cut, emboss & stencil is the fact that they cut your cardstock flawlessly without jamming up like so many hand held border punches of mine do! grrr.... I don't know about you, but it really makes my blood boil when my precious piece of cardstock gets jammed & chewed up in a punch! So if you are looking for an alternative for making borders...I'm just sayin' :)

That's all I have for today! Thanks for looking & I hope you enjoy your weekend :)

If you find some crafty time, please feel free join along with this week's sketch challenge. After you have made your project, please head on over to The Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site & link your post. If you post your creations in an on-line gallery, please label it WMSC12 so we won't miss them! Be sure to see what the other Waltzingmouse DT girls & Mischief Makers have created and for complete details.

Happy Halloween 42

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, August 26, 2010 @ 1:12 PM | , , , ,

Hi There Blogging Friends! Here today to share a few projects I made featuring a few darling Vintage images from Crafty Secrets. Over at Splitcoaststampers, there is a weekly Crafty Secrets challenge of sorts, that challenges us stampers to use our Crafty Secrets products. I made this card for this week's challenge - "Stuck on Crafty Secrets" which is to use a sticker or create your own. I don't own any Crafty Secrets stickers so I trimmed an image, then adhered it using double sided tape. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's Card Patterns Sketch 78. To make the tag, I used the Spellbinders™ S4-081 Tags Five die template to cut/emboss the tag then inked up a Happy Halloween sentiment from the Waltzingmouse Midnight Feast set.

Next up, is this lil' treat bag that I made using the FREE Waltzingmouse Tea Bag Baggie template. I made this for last week's Crafty Secrets challenge was "Brown Bagging It" which is to incorporate a brown bag with your Crafty Secrets goodies. To give the bag a faux leather look, I followed the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. Super easy & such a neat result! Speaking of faux, this month's Dirty Dozen challenge theme is "Fabulous in Faux"- maybe you would like to create using any fake technique! :)

To make the little tag I, inked up an images from the Waltzingmouse Halloween Party & Very Vintage Labels No. 4 sets then cut/embossed using the Spellbinders™ S4-190 Labels Four die template that fits perfectly!

That's all for today. Thanks so much for looking! Be Sweet :)

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Midnight Feast, Halloween Party, Very Vintage Labels No. 4

Die Templates & Machine: Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® S4-190 Labels Four, S5-025 Labels Seventeen, S4-112 Classic Ovals Small, S4-113 Classic Scalloped Ovals SM, S4-081 Tags Five, GC-001 Grand Calibur

Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge 78

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, August 25, 2010 @ 4:04 PM | ,

Hi There Blogging Friends! Here today to join along in the August Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month's theme is the "Brown Bag Challenge". Nichole challenged us customers to create our projects utilizing a brown paper bag in some way, shape or form.I made this Brown Bag Friendship Gift set using a brown paper lunch bag & the Papertrey Ink Friendship Jar stamp set. This set is full of so many fun images & PTI keeps tempting me with all the lil' Friendship Jar add ons & accessories sets! First up, is a Birthday card featuring a piece of 4"x5.25" brown paper bag that I embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I can't get over how close the color is between these generic grocery store brown paper bags & PTI Kraft cardstock! VERY economical - 100 bags for $1 but no where near the weight of the PTI cs :( For sketch inspiration, I played along with the Splitcoaststampers Challenge 295, SCS295.Next, is a closeup of the altered brown paper lunch bag border & tag:

Using the Spellbinders™ S4-242 Big Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite, I ran the brown paper lunch bag through the GC-001 Grand Caliber & created this decorative scallop border. Who would have thought a plain ole' generic brown paper lunch bag could look so fancy? :) LOL

Off to hop along to google over what all the other Blog Hoppers created! Thanks for looking!

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Papertrey Ink Friendship Jar

Die Templates: Spellbinders™ Nestabilities S5-025 Labels Seventeen, S4-190 Labels Four, S4-249 Big Scalloped Circles LG, S4-250 Big Scalloped Circles SM, Shapeabilities® S4-081 Tags Five, S4-242 Big Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite, GC-001 Grand Calibur

Paper: PTI Rustic White, Dark Chocolate, October Afternoon DP, generic brown bag

Ink: SU Cool Caribbean, Almost Apricot, Ranger, Memento, VersaMark, Copic Markers T3 & T5 Toner Gray

Other: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, PTI buttons & twine

Stitched With Love 46

Mona Pendleton | Monday, August 23, 2010 @ 11:47 PM | ,

Hi There! Hope you all had a great weekend :) I was away with my family, boating on Lake Powell & visiting the Grand Canyon. I'll share those pics another day but today, I would like to share this card I made for this week's Friday Challenge 032: Color over at the JustRite Stampers Blog.Sharon is challenging all of us stampers to ink up ANY of our JustRite stamps & create a project referring to this gorgeous Fall color palette for inspiration.
These colors make me think of the crisp Autumn air & cold nights that are soon to come even though the temps are still in the 100's here in Phoenix! With those chilly thoughts in mind, I pulled out & I inked up the quilted flower image from the Stitched with Love Borders & Centers set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamped on cs, colored using various Copic Markers then cut it out. Snipping a lil' bit past each curve so I could curl the tips giving it a lil' dimension & rubbing some distressing ink around the perimeter. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of fabric then stitched it on to the card. Wouldn't that make a beautiful quilt to snuggle up under?

Here are the Copic Markers I used: E57 Light Walnut, YR61 Yellowish Skin Pink, YG95 Pale Olive, YR09 Chinese Orange, G99 Olive, E47 Dark Brown, E08 Brown

That's all I have to share today. Thanks so much for looking & have a great day!

Hi There! Thanks so much to all who played along with last week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! So many fabulous projects! Here today with an all new sketch:Rather than making a card, I made a lil' home decoration wall hanging for my dear sister, Tina who takes care of my fur babies while I am out of town using the new Spellbinders™ Grand Nestabilities® LF-114 Grand Circles and LF-124 Grand Scalloped Circles die templates.I had so much fun playing with this sketch! I took advantage of all that space & filled it up with some of my favorite things :) First, I stamped the sweet image that reads NO MATTER WHAT I HAVE TO DO MY FRIEND THERE'S ALWAYS time for you then worked my way around.I stamped the lil' with LOVE image from the Afternoon Tea Sentiments set then adhered a Melissa Frances decorative frame on top of it. Can you see the aged, crackled effect the crown & pocket watch? All you have to do is brush on some Tim Holtz Rock Candy, wait a few minutes & voila! The crackled effect appears like magic!
Tina crochets so many fleurettes for me to use on my projects :) I asked her for a large one & this is what she whipped up with her needle - what do youth think?

I hope you can join along with this week's sketch challenge. After you have made your project, please head on over to The Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site & link your post. If you post your creations in an on-line gallery, please label it WMSC11 so we won't miss them! Hi There! Here today to share a layout featuring photos of my daughter, Angie from a Summer trip that we had taken 7 years ago to Lake Powell, AZ when she was 13 years old! Time sure does fly... Season's Greetings 37

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, August 18, 2010 @ 10:13 AM | , ,

Happy Wednesday! I have been having making Christmas cards - have you started yet? I have another one to share today using the Christmas Past Collection from Graphic 45.

This week over at the create blog, Paige has challenged all of us paper-crafters to create some handmade flowers so I pulled out the Spellbinders™ S4-219 Nested Poinsettias die templates & made a lil' Poinsettia to showcase on my card. For sketch inspiration, I played along with the girls over at Card Patterns. Please be sure to visit the site & see all the wonderful samples of inspiration :).I tried something to showcase the Season's GREETINGS sentiment. While cutting/embossing the Very Vintage Labels No.2 image, along with a S4-162 Labels Two die template, I centered & adhered a S4-112 Classic Ovals SM die template to create a window, then I popped up the frame with some 3D Foam Squares to add a bit of dimension. Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Supplies Used:

Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® S4-162 Labels Two, S4-219 Nested Poinsettias, S4-112 Classic Ovals SM, S4-242 Big Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite, GC-001 Grand Calibur
