A Pumpkin Patch 48

Mona Pendleton | Monday, October 11, 2010 @ 8:32 AM | ,

Happy Columbus Day! After a long weekend on call, I have the day off from work-YIPEEEE!!! I made this card for this week's JustRite Friday Challenge 039 which is is all about giving thanks.  Sharon is challenging us all to ink up our JustRite stampers and make a Thanksgiving or thank you card or project!
I made this card to coordinate with a tag that I made for last week's JustRite 038 challenge. I was in the midst of the Waltzingmouse Stamps release so I did not share this tag on my blog. I inked up the pumpkin patch image from Autumn Blessings Borders & Centers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the images using the Copic Markers shown in the photo below. I love the versatility of JustRite stampers - these awesome images are interchangeable, making it easy to mix & match images & sentiments. You can create various projects such as cards, tags, scrapbook pages...Not to mention the fact, that so many fit perfectly with Spellbinders™ die templates! ;)
Both pumpkin patch images were cut/embossed using a S4-112 Classic Ovals SM die template. On the card, I layered the image using a S4-110 Classic Ovals LG then adhered it on top of a beautifully ornate stamped frame which is from Give Thanks Nested Frames.

These are the Copic Markers used on this project:
It's that time of year when the yummy seasonal bread mixes start to appear on the grocery store shelves. I admit, I don't bake this Pumpkin bread from scratch. I use a kit from Libby's following the instructions with the addition of a handful of chopped candied ginger chunks :) SCRUMPTIOUS everytime!
Over the past two weeks, my step children were on Fall break and we usually take a road trip pilgrimage to Disneyland. However, this year, Scott (my hubby) hurt his back, so we enjoyed a staycation in Phoenix just relaxing, enjoying the local restaurants & our home :) This photo was taken last year and I am afraid it may be the last time we go as a family :( Connor and Meredith are now 15 and 13. I think the look on Connor's face says it all! They both have expressed no interest in visiting either Disney parks as they have been to both numerous times & they believe they are too old! I think this is difficult for Scott - as he realizes his babies are growing up :(
Thanks so much for visiting! How are you spending Columbus Day?

Supplies Used:

So sweet and yummy, Mona! Yes, it's hard to let them go when they get to that age that it's not 'cool' to hang with the parents any longer :( My sons are 19 and 20 and both in college, so I really treasure the precious moments I have with them these days! We spent their long fall break playing golf, going to a NCSU football game and eating some great dinners out -- just the 4 of us! It was perfect, but went by much too quickly!!

LOVE this Thanksgiving card! The subtle striped paper is such a great background that really allows your focal point to jump off the page! FAB card! Cute pic of the kids. I say skip Disney and take them to Islands of Adventure in Orlando. BIG kids (and adults) theme park!!

Love the pumpkin JR stamp and yummy bread. The bit of twine and pretty embossed border are perfect.
I understand about kids getting older. My son isn't sure he wants to trick or treat this year....and he is only 10. :(

Too old for Disneyland? Crazy talk...

I think you were there last year at the same time we were! My oldest was only 14 months then, and my littlest was barely a bump on my tummy - how things have changed! We certainly didn't pretend the trip was for anyone but the grown ups!! And now we're already planning our next trip, when we'll treat them to a visit to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique!!

We've been eating pumpkin bread for weeks also! ;)

AWESOME card and tag. Love how the pumpkins just leap of the kraft cardstock! Gaw-juss!!!
Absolutely scrum-diddly-umptious bread!!!! I suddenly have developed a pumpkin bread deficiency and could use some to meet my yumminess requirement :) :) :) I worked for Columbus Day :( One of my coworkers made pumpkin pie for Canadian Thanksgiving which was nice.
Have a good one!!!!

I love pumpkin bread too! I love this time of year when all the pumpkin bread mixes are available. I usually stock up for the winter/spring but I always seem to run out! Love the card and tag! What a great gift set! Your step kids are gorgeous!

Love your card....gorgeous as always.
And the picture of your step children is priceless. I know what you mean; before you know they are growing up and don''t want to do those things you love to do as a family when they were young. Time flies but I know for sure there will be other lovely moments and events to share. My sons are almost 20 and 23; having them both home and having dinner together as a family is a great moment to make some new beautiful memories!

Tina Mechum said...

And any way you slice it Pumpkin Bread is Yummy.. It's so funny to me how kids out grow Disneyland. I know my daughter did also. I just don't get it. Don't they know its the Happiest place on earth.
And I am all about being Happy... Hugs, Linda

What a great fall card & matching tag, Mona! So happy we're finally have more fall-like weather so that we can enjoy the cool AMs & PMs (even if mid-day is still a tad too warm). Looks like you'll need to find a more adult adventure for your stepchildren that you can all enjoy together, until they have their own kids and will once again love the happiest place on earth!

Pammy said...

Beautiful card and tag! You just gotta love that sweet JustRite Stamp! I wish I had your skills with the Copic markers; amazing job coloring! Too bad your stepkids have lost their love of the Happiest Place on Earth (also the most expensive place on earth, lol). I bet they will still want to go but probably in shorter spurts! Sorry about your DH's back; hope he's doing better!

Sheri said...

Beautiful set and the pumpkin bread sounds yummy, Mona! Love how you combined the sets!

I don't think you're ever too old for Disneyland!!

Kerry said...

I think Stephanie is right, you never are too old for DIsneyland/world... They will rediscover it sooner than you think! Tell your DH not to be discouraged!
I absolutely love your card and tag! Beautiful job with the JR stamp! You could make a homemade stamp look magazine quality! TFS!

You card is fantastic and so beautifully colored, Mona! I really heart the touch of single string with button. Goodness, I may need to try that...someone will have to tie my hands behind my back afterward to keep me from adding more, but maybe I could do it. I really heart the look. The bread looks yummy! The commentary about the teens...yes...totally understand. Great looking kids!
