A "Yummy" scrapped LO...Just Us Girls Technique Challenge 39

Mona Pendleton | Friday, April 9, 2010 @ 8:57 PM | ,

Hi Crafty Friends :) Are you ready to get scrappy with Just Us Girls? For this week's, Technique challenge, JUGS28, Alicia has challenged us to create a scrapped layout using her fun sketch!

Here's my take:

These photos were taken at the San Diego Wild Animal Park Summer of 2008! We took a tour of the "Serengeti", where we had the most awesome opportunity to feed the Rhinos sweet potatoes!
I fashioned a BIG We R Memory Keepers word eyelet right in the center of a flower made using an EK Success punch.

I like to stitch my buttons into place! Secures things right where you want them!

These animals are magnificent gentle giants! Their tongues are huge & they lift their upper lip when you reach towards them with the treats! If you ever go to San Diego, CA this is one place you will surely want to visit! We even spent a night in a tent & watched the animals graze at night! It is called "Roar & Snore!" Would love to know if you have ever visited the SD Wild Animal Park? Be Sweet!

I was thrilled that Alicia chose a scrapped challenge! Great motivation to get my Summer trip of 2008 completed-Thanks Alicia :) One out of MANY pages to go :) LOL

For all the juicy details, please visit the Just Us Girls challenge site & be sure to visit ALL the DT girls (found on my side bar) as well as Sue! Once you have your scrapped page photographed, be sure to go to Just Us Girls and post a direct link to your project on our site. If you upload to on online gallery, please be sure to label your project as JUGS28.

Deadline to be considered for the weekly "Chic of the Week" will be 9:00 PM EST on Thursday, April 15th. Our Inlinkz tool will also close at that time. Our top pick "Chic of the Week" will be announced on Friday morning following the deadline.

Hi Mona! I've been to San Diego several times but never to the Wild Animal Park. I see that it is a part of the SD Zoological Society. I will have to check it out next time I'm on the mainland! Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I adore your scrapbook page! You were so true to the sketch and I love your take! Great colors and interesting pictures! Top notch design as usual! TFS!

Mona, this page is FABULOUS! I've been to the SD zoo but never the wild animal park. Must go back! I just remember my son being 12 and we were riding on the top of the bus. He asked if anyone knew the name of the world's largest rat and my son yelled out "Kapibarra!" I guess he really was listening in school - who knew???!!! Anyway I LOVE your page. Who knew you could put flowers with rhinos? LOVE all the stitching and scallops and your dp is perfect! LOVE it!

This page is fabulous, Mona! I love all your flowers, they really add a nice touch to the page. How clever to add the word eyelet to the center of the flower. Sometimes I stuggle and scratch my head on how/where to place sentiments. This is a really nice way to incorporate them! I really love that you always think outside the box ~ it is pure genius...!

Happy stamping!!!

Adorable scrapbook page. I'm so excited that it's a scrapbook challenge. I might participate just to force myself to get a move on with my pages, even though I couldn't hope to compete with your beautiful work.

Fabulous layout, Mona! How fun to feed the rhinos! Another memory preserved and scrapped - love that! May have to check out "Roar and Snore".. we go to the wild animal park quite often since my in-laws live practically down the street from it!

Mona this is fabulous as is all your work. It doesn't matter what kind of papercraft project we throw out - you handle them all with ease. What a FUN adventure at the WAP. I used to take my 6th grade students there but we never got to feed the Rhinos - LOVE the idea of roar and snore although I have a hard time picturing you in a tent LOL. :-) Way to ROCK the challenge - I love all those buttons.
