Design Team Announcement! 50

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, June 5, 2012 @ 7:15 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I'm here to share some really exciting news that I've had to keep a secret! A few months ago, Nadia Cannizzo, the talented Owner/Administrator of the Once Upon A...Sketch challenge site invited me to join her and her uber talented, 28 member International design team beginning July 1st for a one year term! YAHOOOO!!! If you are not familiar with Once Upon A Sketch, it is a monthly scrapbook layout challenge site providing a boat load of inspiration. Please feel free to check it out for yourself ~ click HERE
Of course, I can't share my exciting news all by itself so I played along with the June Once Upon A ... Sketch challenge which also includes a BIRTHDAY theme.

Here's my take featuring Meredith looking oh so beautiful amongst pretty patterned paper from the Pink Paislee London Market collection and home made flowers made using Spellbinders Rose Creations and Spiral Blossom One dies.
See the big pink blossom? I have had that Spiral Blossom One die for quite awhile and I wasn't happy how my flowers looked so I put it away for another day. Well, I pulled that bad boy out and decided to give it a try again. I cut not 1 but 2 pieces of cardstock, doubling up and rolled them together. Now, I LOVE that die because you can make a really FULL bloom!
Here's the fab June Once Upon A ... Sketch that I used for inspiration:
Thanks so much for visiting :) Be Sweet!

Happy Anniversary...FTTC172 66

Mona Pendleton | Monday, June 4, 2012 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! It's time for an all new Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined along last week :) This week, Amanda is our lovely hostest and she is challenging us all to create a WHITE card/project with LACE and/or PEARLS.
What a challenge for patterned paper / color loving kind of crafty gal! My dear husband Scott and I will be celebrating our 8th year Wedding Anniversary next week, so I used this challenge to create an elegant but not too frilly card for him :)
I stamped both the sentiment from Flourished Words, which by the way is unfortunately retired and the gorgeous heart from Fanciful Flourishes on a piece of Vellum then heat embossed using fine white embossing powder. Speaking of retired stamp sets, Flourishes will be unveiling their retired list soon, so if there are some sets you want, you will want to stay tuned before you miss out on the opportunity! Once they're gone ~ they're gone! I used a Spellbinders Classic Heart die template to cut the heart shape. Except for the Vellum, the ENTIRE card was made using Flourishes beautiful, heavy weight White Card stock.
For sketch inspiration, I played along with iSpy Sketches:
Here's a photo from our wedding day taken 8 years ago on June 15th on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. We were laughing so hard because Scott has a couple bulging discs in his back from years of playing high school and college football, he nearly dropped me in the water!
I've NEVER made an ALL white card before so I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge! I hope you ink up your stamps, especially ones from Flourishes and join in the fun! happy Birthday...CR84FN55 Week 2 45

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, June 2, 2012 @ 8:55 PM | , , , ,

Hello there! It's quite hot here in the desert which makes for great crafting weather once I sneak my bike ride in during the wee early morning hours :) It's week #2 of the CR84FN55 Color Challenge ~ so many pretty projects already!
I made yet another Birthday card for a dear friend of mine using a combination of pretty patterned paper from the Pink Paislee London Market Collection, Spellbinders dies, PTI stamps as well as a few of their coordinating dies.
After die cutting and stamping the Peony and leaves, I added a layer of glitter ~ I think it sort of adds a dew kissed look.
For sketch inspiration, I played along with the current retro sketches challenge:

Mona Pendleton | @ 12:13 AM | ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a great weekend! I'm here today celebrating the 100th Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! LOTS of exciting things happening so be sure to visit the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog for COMPLETE details!
I made a Graduation card for Emily, Connor's girlfriend who recently graduated from High School. I combined images from three various stamp sets. The fun polka dot background was  stamped using a stamp from Off Beat Backgrounds,
the sentiment is from Free Spirit - Sentiments and the graduation cap image is from Free Spirit - Boy. I finished off the card with a double bow and a rolled rose made using a die from Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.
Shown below is a photo featuring sweet Emily and dear Connor that was taken on graduation night :)
For color inspiration, I played along with The Play Date Cafe:
Many thanks for visiting! Please be sure to visit the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog for some awesome inspiration and COMPLETE details regarding the 100th sketch celebration!
