CREATIVITY IS NOT IN THE FINDING... 40

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, March 30, 2014 @ 9:01 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's challenge theme is Anything Goes! I took advantage of the creative freedom of not having any rules and created a page in my art journal.

I stepped outside the perimeter of an A2 size card and created a page in my art journal.
I applied many layers of a variety of Ranger Distress Paints and randomly stamped fun flowers from the How Does Your Garden Grown stamp set.
I wanted additional design, so I randomly added stenciled designs using both the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Diamond Circles stencil:
and the Tim Holtz Bubble Stencil.

live the life you've imagined 41

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, March 27, 2014 @ 9:25 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I'm so excited that this weekend is FINALLY here! My 26 year old dear son, Jerry is marrying his sweet and beautiful sweetheart, April :) I'm pretty sure all the loose ends are tied and now we just need to make it through the rehearsal before the big day! I'm hoping Scott will capture a few photos at the wedding and if so, I will be sure to share one or two :)

I had some time to play so I made this tag using a variety of some fun products.
To create this tag, I started with a blank Ranger tag, applied various Distress paints, added texture using a Tim Holtz stencil and molding paste then embellished with a beautiful blossom that was made using Spellbinders Tattered Blossoms dies.
I finished it off with a die cut chipboard butterfly which I added texture to as well then painted using gold paint:

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, March 26, 2014 @ 9:10 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week! It's time for an all new MFTWSC sketch challenge. Thanks to all who joined along with last week's sketch!
This week, we at MFT have another fabulous sketch for you to create with:
I created a Thank You card featuring a variety of fun Die-namics dies along with a sentiment from Sweet Roses:
To create this card, I stamped the Thank You sentiment from Sweet Roses using Chocolate Brown ink on a die cut Pierced Oval. The Kraft label was die cut using a die from the Well Worn Greetings die set. I finished the card with an Insulation Pink die cut Fringed Perennial blossom along with Factory Green Royal Leaves. The pretty patterned paper used is from the Pion design Grandma's school book collection.
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you join along in the fun! You have the opportunity to win a $20. gift certificate to the MFT Boutique! Be sure to visit the MFT blog for additional inspiration.

Wedding Day 37

Mona Pendleton | Monday, March 24, 2014 @ 8:00 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week so far! I'm so excited because I had a chance to create just for fun so I joined along with the Prima: March Build-A-Page sketch challenge.
Weddings have been on my mind lately surely because my son is getting married to his beautiful bride-to-be this weekend in San Francisco and Scott and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this summer. This month's Prima: March Build-A-Page was the perfect sketch for me to create a layout featuring several of our wedding photos:
I combined a variety of beautiful patterned papers and chipboard pieces from the Prima Something Blue Collection along with beautiful Prima Wedding Resin pieces:
I couldn't help myself, I had to embellish with three beautiful Prima blossoms along with a few die cut Fancy Flourishes:
For added interest, I distressed all the edges, adhered to the background then stitched in place creating a quilt like appearance:
I also wanted more of a shabby look, so I randomly applied Gesso giving areas a white washed appearance:
One of the challenge rules is that you need to use at least 90% Prima products. I have that more than covered because everything is a Prima product with the exception of the die cut fancy flourishes and the black cardstock that I used to mount the photos on:

Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you enjoyed my layout.
Be Sweet ;)

Embrace Imperfection 50

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, March 23, 2014 @ 9:01 PM | , ,

Hi there! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week, DT member Anna-Karin challenges us to be transparent. Will you use vellum? Perhaps share all the details of your project leaving no secrets unseen? Add a layer of frost film or use mediums that are not opaque? The choice is yours! Can't wait to see what you create!

I was inspired to create a project featuring a transparent Tattered Floral. When it was completed, it sort of looked like a wintery scene don't you think?
To create the die cut flower, I combined fun frost film, modeling film and Broken China Distress Ink. Peeking out from under the blossom are sprigs of die cut flowers and fun art parts leaves:
For the background, I stamped and inked a piece of French Industrial Paper using various stamps and Distress inks then added texture using the Tim Holtz Bubble Stencil. Once the background was created, I adhered a crackle finished Window

LOVE 44

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, March 22, 2014 @ 5:26 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! The weather is really beautiful here so I've been enjoying riding my bike outside when I can. Connor participated in a National Invitational Track & Field meet this weekend so Scott and I went to cheer him on Friday night and Saturday morning :)

I took time to create a layout featuring a photo of my sweet little girl Gretchen using a variety of my favorite products including: MFT stamps, Die-namics dies and Pion design patterned papers:
Gretchen is my sweet little girl West Highland Terrier. She's 8 years old already ~ time flies. Seems like yesterday when I was running out the door every 15 - 20 minutes for a potty break! I embellished the page with several homemade blossoms. I used the  stencil to add texture and additional design to the background:
I randomly stamped a butterfly from Winged Beauties as well as polka dots from Distressed Background Blocks:
For color and story inspiration, I joined along with the CSI 115 challenge:
Here's how I incorporated the different elements from the story:

The Scheme:
I used all 5 colors
The Evidence:
I used: hearts, flowers, stamps and a mixed media background
The Testimony:
Used the Inspiration Words: Imagine in my journaling

For sketch inspiration, I joined along with My Scraps & More sketch challenge:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Be Sweet ;)

Hi there! I hope you are having a great week! It's my turn to share a project on the 13arts blog ~ if you get a chance, please be sure to stop by ~ click HERE. I made a layout featuring a photo of Meredith along with a variety of fabulous 13arts products. To create the background, I combined pretty papers from both the Timeless and All is Love collections.
The title was made using one of the many versatile fun  sentiments from Timeless Subtitles:
I added color to the metal flower embellishments using the following mists / sprays: Pearl Mist ~ BrownPearl Mist ~ Navy BlueChalk Mist ~ Chalk Dark BrownChalk Mist ~ Chalk TurquoiseWater Ink ~ Navy Blue:

To create the trio of clock embellishments, I adhered acrylic dots to 13arts patterned paper, then trimmed around the perimeter:
In case you are curious as to how I created this layout, here are several step shots I took along the way.
Apply a think coat of Gesso ~ Acrylic Primer to the background and embellishments:
Apply Pearl Gold paint to background and embellishments:
Randomly apply the following mists starting with lightest color first and allow to dry in between applications: 13arts Ayeeda: Pearl Mist ~ BrownPearl Mist ~ Navy BlueChalk Mist ~ Chalk Dark BrownChalk Mist ~ Chalk TurquoiseWater Ink ~ Navy Blue:
