Journey 31

Mona Pendleton | Monday, September 30, 2013 @ 9:00 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week! It's time for a new sketch to play with at Once Upon A Sketch. This month, we ask you to focus on the journaling theme: "Journey".
Here's the fun sketch we will be playing with:
I scrapped a trio of photos that were taken of the gorgeous historical Trevi Fountain while on our trip to Rome several years ago. I realized I had a typo in my journaling after the fact, but that is ok with me :)
Peeking from behind the photos is a small patch of stenciled brick wall that was made using the Brick Wall stencil along with Distress ink.
I thought a few decorative crackled and distressed chipboard pieces would work well on this layout:
I topped it with a trio of flowers, a few clocks that were made using Timeless and a chipboard title that I also distressed:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you liked my layout. Please be sure to visit the Once Upon A Sketch site to see what the participating DT members have created.

Say it with STAMPS 46

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, September 29, 2013 @ 9:01 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week we are all about saying it with our stamps! We are embracing all those letter, word and phrase sentiment stamps that we have and our sharing our creations with you!  I was inspired to create a tag featuring an inspirational and encouraging sentiment from Stuff To Say:
I love to have a tag on hand to share with a family member or special friend when they are in need of words of encouragement. So I stitched some patterned paper on a tag
then embellished with a variety of metal trinkets and a Gold flower.

Hi there! Hope you are enjoying the weekend! Today I have a layout to share with you featuring a photo of my son, Jerry and his sweet girlfriend, April.
I pulled out the Prima Lyric Collection pad that has been sitting in my scrapping supplies for months just waiting to be opened! I fussy cut around one of the printed clocks and added a few blossoms that too, have been in my stash for a VERY long time!
Using a fancy stencil, I added some interest and design then randomly stamped the polka dot image from Distressed Background Blocks and adhered a fussy cut butterfly along with a zipper trinket.
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with the Prima September BAP sketch challenge:

Hello there! Hope you are having a great weekend! I had some "me" time tonight so I made a layout featuring a photo of Scott and I standing in front of THE St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing the inside is!
I made a trio of flowers using the following Die-namics: Large Royal Rose, Upsy-Daisy and a Mini Royal Roses die.
I added a Fancy butterfly then for added interest to the background, I randomly stamped the polka dot image from Distressed Background Blocks and the text image from Collage Backgrounds:
I've never made an exclusively black and white layout so I took on the September Scrap Around The World Challenge for "color" inspiration:

with love 39

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, September 26, 2013 @ 3:55 PM | ,

Hi there! Hope all is well with you. I had a lot of fun with April while she was in town visiting. We completed all the wedding invitations over the weekend! Yahoo :) There wasn't any stamping involved other than on the envelopes so when all was said and done, the assembly took roughly 6 hours. April and I worked for 3 hours on Saturday then her Mom joined us on Sunday and we wrapped it up within 3 hours. Scott being my tech support 24/7, designed and formatted the inside of the invitation as well as the response card info. April was very appreciative to have that task behind her and skipped off with her box full of invites :) I feel very blessed that my son Jerry met such a sweet girl and that I had a chance to get to know her over the past 5 years.

I had some time to play today, so I made this mixed media card. After creating the colorful background paper using the Gelli Arts printing plate and various acrylic paints, I die cut 6 square panels using Die-namics Pierced Square STAX dies and a heart using Die-namics Hearts a Plenty die.
For added interest and contrast I randomly stamped the chicken wire design from Distressed Background Blocks and stenciled design using Concentric Circles. I finished it off with a sentiment from Winged Beauties and a Sno Cone button:

I love art 67

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, September 22, 2013 @ 9:01 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! In celebration of STAMPtember  this week the DT is featuring a project made using a Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® ART JOURNALING KIT by SHARI CARROLL! The challenge for this week is to use ANY Simon Says Stamp exclusive product in a project.

Using MANY fab items that I received in my kit, I got a little messy and inked up the journal covers:
Here's a view of both the front and back covers:
To begin, I applied the Gesso from the kit on the journal which is also included in the kit:
Then using the fun stencil included in the kit along with various colors of Color Shine sprays I sprayed the journal covers repeating the process with additional colored sprays listed below:
then I randomly stamped the pretty flower stamp included in the kit Gesso:
I applied Altered Orange ink included in the kit along with the stencil to add interest to the background then doodled around them:
I painted and sprayed a piece of the cardstock using the paints that were included in the kit
then embellished it using the clasp, stickers and tile which are ALL included in the kit. Using Simon Says Stamp LARGE Heart Set Craft dies and dictionary page from the kit, I cut a variety of hearts:
then painted them using a couple colors of acrylic paint from the kit along with the red from my stash:
More stenciled circles and another die cut heart:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you like my project. For some amazing inspiration, please continue the hop and be sure to visit Michelle Zerull.
