Dianne's Sympathy Card

Hi Girls! TGIF! :) I am super excited the weekend is here because this is the start of my vacation. :) I created this card for my girlfriend Dianne and her husband, Tellis expressing my sympathy for their loss. Tellis came to the US more than 40 yrs ago as a high school foreign exchange student from Kedhares, Cyprus. When the school year had ended, Tellis had to return to Cyprus to fulfill his obligation to the Greek military for 2 years. Upon completion, he returned to the US & that is when Dianne met him. They have been married for more than 25 years! Dianne, of Polish descent, from Pennsylvania meets the love of her life, Tellis from Kedhares, Cyprus in Phoenix, AZ! :) Anyhow, Tellis's "American" mother passed away this week at the age of 94. This card is for the both of them. I incorporated the SU colors Elegant Eggplant, Barely Banana & Bordering Blue from the Color Throwdown #44 Challenge. As always, thank you for visiting my blog. Comments are ALWAYS appreciated! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Happy Memorial Day!

Hi Cyber Girl Friends! :) I hope all of you had a relaxing Memorial Day! I posted the following comment elsewhere on my blog but I want to make sure all of you had the opportunity to read it. First, I want to thank you for all your support! You are all so nice! :) I guess I lost focus for a short time & got caught up in the moment of wanting to make the Top 10 in the challenges :( I apologize because my intentions with this blog was to share what I love to do with girls like all of you who are interested in my creations! I hope you all understand. :) All the comments that you girls leave and the number of followers that are interested in my creations are WAY MORE than I ever imagined! :) I admit, it would be exciting to make the Top however, the challenges jump start my creative juices! :) So sincerely, thank you all very much! :) Now for this card, I realize I am a little late with this Memorial Day card but I was busy today making 4 sets of that "Bird" gift basket for a few friends & my sister. :) I knew I did not need this card until Tuesday morning when I returned to work. :) My inspiration for making this All American Patchwork Quilt card was for one of my dearest friends, Helen. Helen is a Registered Nurse that is also my Mentor/Co-Worker/Friend. Her very first nursing assignment fresh out of Nursing School was in an Army M.A.S.H. Unit during the Vietnam War! I work in the Operating Room and Helen is our Foundation! This is a Thank You card for ALL the men & women, ESPECIALLY Helen, for serving OUR Country, putting their lives on the line for OUR Freedom! I incorporated Color Inspiration #53 found at KWERNERDESIGN.COM Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! Please feel free to leave a comment. Be Sweet! Until next time...

This One's For The Birds!

Hi Cyber Girl Friends! :) I hope all of you are having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! In case any of you are curious, none of my little creations have made it to the Top 10 Favorites in any of the Color Challenges. :( I am going to continue stamping away & having a great time creating. Maybe one day, I will make it to the Top 10 & if I am really fortunate, I will get chosen to be a member of a design team! :) Anyone in need of a Cardstock Cupcake or a DieCutz Diva on their design team? :) My inspiration for my basket of goodies comes from a special someone, MY Chemo Buddy. She is having a birthday this month and her favorite color is YELLOW, favorite scent is VANILLA & favorite flavor of tea is GREEN tea. I just had to use the ever so popular SU Cheep Talk set again! :) Those little birds are SOOO cute, I just want to pinch their cheeks! :) Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! Please feel free to leave a comment. Be Sweet! Until next time...

Here is a brief description of the items in the basket:

1.) The VANILLA scented candle jar topper was made by layering several colors of cardstock cut from Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Nesties & embellished with the stamped bird & flower.

2.) The tin has an Organza pouch inside that is filled with GREEN tea. The lid is decorated with the following: cardstock, a tag made using Spellbinders Labels One die set, a discontinued Sizzix Teapot die cut that is embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder & stamped with a flower. The tag attached to the tea tin, was cut using the Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Nesties. On the back of that Scalloped Circle tag it reads, "I wish we could sit down

together and have a cup of tea, but since we can't, when you have this one, I hope you'll think of me. Unknown"

3.) My "Cheep Talk" card.

4.) The birdhouse was cut using the FREE pattern that can be found at http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2009/05/introducing-bird-watching-additions.html After cutting out the birdhouse, I stamped & embossed the flower images on it. The birdhouse has an Organza pouch inside that is filled with VANILLA potpourrii.

Cheep Talk! 29

Mona Pendleton | Monday, May 18, 2009 @ 9:18 AM | , , ,

Cheep Talk!

Hi Girls! I survived the CRAZINESS of the TWO pre-teen & teenager pool parties this weekend! ;) Not one crumb left over from TWO dozen of cupcakes, ONE dozen of White Chocolate Macadamia Nut & ONE dozen of Chocolate Chunk cookies & EIGHT bags of various chips! :) Those kids can really eat!!! Thankfully, I have the day off from my REAL job, (the one that supports this hobby / paper addiction :), so I gathered some ingredients including sprinkles & started creating! :) My inspiration for this card comes from the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge - Week 6 that can be found at www.DAWNMCVEY.TYPEPAD.COM & from the Challenge 51 Buttons Galore than can be found at www.aspoonfullofsugarchallenge.blogspot.com I stamped my own Designer Paper starting with a white sheet of CS, randomly stamping a bird image using VersaMagic's Sea Breeze Chalk Ink, then heat embossing with clear embossing powder. Repeating these steps with the other stamps & colors used. I love heat embossing with VersaMagic Chalk Ink because its consistancy is so thick & moist. Perfect for embossing! Please feel free to leave a comment telling me what you think of my creation! :) Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. Be Sweet! Until next time...

Ingredients used:

Paper: SU Cool Caribbean, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Ink: VersaMagic Sea Breeze, Jumbo Java, Pink Grapefruit Chalk Ink

Stamps: SU Cheep Talk

Congratulations Wyatt!

Hi Girls! It's going to be a CRAZY weekend at my house! My 13 yr. old step-son is having a end of the school year pool party today & my step daughter will be celebrating her 12th birthday tomorrow! Each will be having 10-15 friends over! :) My sister is going to her friends son high school graduation party, so she asked me if I had a "masculine" Celebration card on hand. I rarely make those sort of cards except for my husband's birthday and Father's Day! I couldn't have her give Wyatt a "girly" pink, flowery sort of card! ;) Knowing that the boy was active in the FFA & 4H club, I used a "Western" theme for my inspiration. Being a Card Angel is a great option for volunteers with limited budgets. Hi Everyone! I was very excited to create something using the Cricut Expression 12" x 24" mat in conjunction with the 12" x 24" Bazzill cardstock that I purchased from Ohmycrafts.com. I chose to make the Gift Bag from the Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge for the special girls in my life that are Moms. :) I hope you find it helpful and useful! Thanks for stopping by and looking! Be Sweet! Until next time...

Instructions for the Large & Small Gift Bag, Tag Pocket and Note card:
