Autumn wishes

Hi there! Today I have a couple projects to share but before I get those I wanted to thank all of you who have asked about my sweet sister Marlene. I'm sad to share that Marlene has lost her fight against breast / brain cancer and is no longer suffering. I'm very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

Shown below is a photo of Marlene and my dear niece Renee, Marlene's daughter that was taken last summer shortly after Marlene had received the terminal diagnosis that the cancer had metastasized to her brain.
Up first is a card that I made for my dear niece Renee, Marlene's daughter. Renee is 28 years young which is way too young to lose her Mom. Renee is a First Lieutenant currently serving in the U.S. Army as a Registered Nurse. My heart aches for her, her brother and my BIL.
I combined a couple of stamp sets from PTI. The pumpkins were stamped using a deep orange ink but I think the images appear more red than orange in the photographs.
For sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with the Fab Friday challenge:
Up next is an 8" x 10" still life oil painting:
I'm linking my painting to the Paint Party Friday and 30 in 30 Day 16 sites:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!
Be Sweet ;)

  3. My heart aches for your family, Mona--sending love & hugs. Beautiful picture of your sister & niece. People don't realize how important it is to have pictures when they refuse to have them taken. I've always loved those pumpkins & they do look to be a beautifully dark orange. The background is perfect! You've certainly taken to painting with being able to do such different looks--this one is lovely!

  4. Oh Marlene... I am so very sorry to hear your sad news... no words can tell you how I feel for what you're going through.. such a difficult time for you all. Only know that as you say, she is no longer suffering. It is always worse for those left behind and I know you will miss her dreadfully. What a beautiful photo you have of her and your niece... a lovely memory to keep close by.

Your card and painting are both wonderful... and I'm glad that you can take comfort in your crafting.. it's been a major therapy for me over time, and I hope it provides the same for you.
