bless our nest 41

Hi there! There's a new challenge up on The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog! This month we are asking you to create a project based on the Photo Inspiration shown below:
The eggs in the photo were my source of inspiration:
I was inspired to create a mixed media canvas featuring a trio of eggs inside of a homemade twig heart. I added lots of texture using a sand texture paste along with a stencil:

Here are the twigs that I gathered from my backyard to create the nest :)
I'm also linking this canvas up to the Paint Party Friday site:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoyed my project! Please be sure to visit The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge site for loads of awesome inspiration from the DT and for complete details on how to share your mixed media creativity with us! Remember, this month we have a sponsor who is offering a fantastic prize to one lucky player! Like the lottery, you have to play to win!

having fun 22

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, February 27, 2016 @ 10:10 AM | , ,

Hi there! Last night I had fun painting! Finally took the time to paint the assignment from week 5 of the 6 week online painting workshop that I'm currently taking with one of my favorite artists Dreama Tolle Perry. Our focus was a small jar of pretty blossoms. Here's my first attempt on a 12" x 12" gesso board:
One of the many things I'm learning in the course, is how to be "loose" with the brush, not painting in uniformity and embracing abstract paint brush strokes. I'm going to paint this again and again until I'm satisfied with the final outcome where I can proudly hang it in my studio along with the others from previous weeks :)

I'm linking this up with Paint Party Friday:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

Deep Sympathy 19

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, February 25, 2016 @ 11:04 PM | ,

Hi there! Today I have a rather clean and simple sympathy card to share that I made for my dear friend who recently lost her father in law. Not much to chatter about other than the PTI pink peony, the rest is a lot of white and kraft space.

For color inspiration, I joined along with Color Throwdown: (kraft, light green and pink)
and for sketch inspiration, I am joining along with Freshly Made Sketches:

The coffee theme inspired me to make a home made color stain using coffee grounds from my morning cup of coffee:
and to feature a trio of spoon trinkets from my stash:

trust the magic 22

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, February 21, 2016 @ 10:30 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! Today I have a tag to share for the February More Than Words Mini Challenge. This month, we are challenging you to create a card, tag or ATC featuring the word "Magic". We must SEE the actual word. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to join along! For complete details, please visit the More Than Words Challenge blog.

I created a mixed media style tag featuring a chipboard fairy from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts formerly known as Gina's Designs. I added lots of texture using some baubles as well as texture paste along with a stencil from MFT.  The title "trust the Magic" was stamped using a Prima stamp:

Beautiful 34

Mona Pendleton | Friday, February 19, 2016 @ 12:35 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! It seems like it has been forever since I created a layout so I took some time to join along with a few challenges that I haven't played with in awhile. I created a layout featuring a photo of the beautiful Eiffel Tower that Scott snapped while we were on vacation a few years ago visiting Paris.
The current 7 Dots Studio challenge is to create an Industrial inspired project.
I chose to feature the gorgeous structure because it is a stunning industrial work of art. I used fabulous papers from the 7 Dots Studio Cold Country collection along with a variety of embellishments including chipboard industrial gears. I was going for an industrial patina color scheme.

For sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with the current Let's Get Sketchy sketch challenge:

Thanks so much for stopping by~I hope you have a great weekend!
