Barnyard wood and roses
Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend! I had fun hanging out with my dear husband and sweet sister :) Today I have a 12" x 12" painting to share inspired by Gary Jenkins The Beauty of Oil Painting Barnyard Roses video and book tutorial. To begin, I followed along with Gary's book instructions on how to paint a barnyard wood like background using acrylic paints:
After I applied several layers of paint and had achieved the look I was going for, I was able to move on and paint the roses and foliage:
I learned a lot along the way while painting this piece and can't wait to give it another try on a large 20" x 20" or 24" x 24" canvas to hang in my home:

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Mona! Your painting is breathtaking! The large open rose looks like you could reach out to touch it and it would be real. I love the barnwood background with its aged wood and crevices. A stunning piece!

ReplyDeleteSo....When is the Art Gallery Grand Opening going to be??? You have painted so many gorgeous paintings that it would simply be a crime not to either share them with the world or have them hang in your home.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you created the wood wall background and the floral arrangement is pure perfection. I am not an expert in composition and such, but I do know I love this painting and it is stunning!
