Captured Memories 43

Mona Pendleton | Friday, May 31, 2013 @ 10:48 AM | , , , , , ,

Happy Friday! I'm so happy the weekend is here and I have the day off from work to play :) I pulled out some of my favorite products and created a layout featuring a photo that I took a few years ago of Scott, Connor and Meredith while we were on spring break hanging out at Walt Disney World.
I started by creating several sheets of my own paper using the 12" x 14" Gelli Arts printing plate and a variety of acrylic paints:

Once the paper was dry, (takes only a few minutes), I added lots of texture using fiber paste along with the MPD Square Motif stencil. I altered a few pieces of chipboard with embossing enamel then adhered a variety of flowers.
I randomly stamped the chicken wire design from MPD Distressed Backgrounds using MFT Kraft ink. I have really been having fun experimenting with a variety of crackle producing products like you see on the chipboard heart. I haven't decided which I like best but when I do, I will share.
I played along with a few challenges: The Sunday Stamper challenge which is to use "embossing powder", (I heat embossed the chipboard pieces), for sketch inspiration, I joined along with Let's Get Sketchy:
and for color inspiration, I joined along with Sketchy Colors. Both of which I needed to jump start my crafty mojo :)
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great weekend!

A picture is worth...MFTWSC126 35

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, May 29, 2013 @ 9:00 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you having a great week. I've been a little quiet but busy working on a few projects to share soon! It's Wednesday so that means it's time for an all new My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge! For additional inspiration from participating DT members, please be sure to visit the MFT Blog.
Here's the sketch we are playing with:
Here's my first Christmas card for 2013! I always think I have plenty of time to make holiday cards but some how the holidays are here before I know it and we are ringing in yet another New Year! Please tell me I'm not alone?!
My card features a photo of dear Santa Scott ;) I framed the photo with a die cut frame that was made using the Die-namics LLD Insert It - InstaFrame die then I stamped a sentiment from LLD Document It - Captured Memories on it using Black Licorice ink. The fun little squiggly border peeking out from behind the frame was made using Paver Red cardstock and the Die-namics Looped Border die.
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great day!

Thinking of You 40

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, May 25, 2013 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are all having a great weekend! There are so many good movies currently showing in the theatre, have you seen any? Scott and I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness ~ what a great movie! I'm up for a good laugh so I want to see The Hangover Part 3 :)

I had some "me" time so I made a tag featuring one of the pretty blossoms from MFT Inspired by Flowers Set #4.
After paper piecing the flower, I adhered a layer of glitter then topped it off with a resin embellishment. For inspiration, I referred to the paper piecing tutorial found HERE on the MFT blog and I joined along with the current Get Creative tag challenge where the focus is all about flowers.
Thanks so much for looking!

Friendship 34

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, May 23, 2013 @ 3:52 PM | , , , , , ,

Hi there! I'm all unpacked and settled in after returning home from teaching at the very first MFT retreat / workshop in Eustis, Florida. The event was so well organized and ran quite flawlessly which is not surprising because Kim runs a tight ship and does not do anything less than first class! It was great to catch up with friends and make many new ones :) I'm hoping it becomes an annual event and I hope I'm invited to be part of it again! Based on from what I gathered, all the participants were very pleased with the classes and thrilled with their swag bag that was JAM packed with MFT goodies!

Monday morning, my sweet friend Sue Lelli picked me up at the Orlando airport and drove me back to her home near Tampa, where I stayed until Tuesday evening. We had so much fun! We had lots of retail therapy both crafty and non-crafty, we stayed up until nearly 3 am creating, and we went to the beach on Siesta Key, where we walked for miles and played in the sand. Needless to say, I slept all the way home on the flight to Phoenix! We had someone take our photo next to a gorgeous sandman that someone had made for all to enjoy! ;)
I made this small hanging for Sue expressing my gratitude for her amazing hospitality and sweet friendship :) The girl featured on the tag was made using a stamp I purchased while shopping with Sue who couldn't quite see how I would put her to use. I hope she likes her now that the image is more than a line drawing on a piece of rubber!
I added texture to the background using the MPD Square Motif stencil and fiber paste. Once dry, I spritzed on homemade mist made using MFT Blue Raspberry mist.
I stamped a sentiment from MFT Sew Nifty on a die cut made using Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon Die.
To create the girl, I stamped the image several times on various pieces of cardstock, colored using various markers, paper pieced her outfit and headband, adding a strip of cloth lace under the bottom hem of the dress. Once everything was adhered, I randomly stamped the chicken wire image from MPD Distressed Background Blocks
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!

Enjoy Your Day...MFT May Creative Challenge 43

Mona Pendleton | Monday, May 20, 2013 @ 9:00 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! Welcome to the May MFT Creative Challenge! In case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.
This month, "April Showers bring May Flowers!"

MFT carries such an amazing assortment of flower making capable Die-namics dies it was challenging to narrow it down to just one, so I decided to make a card featuring a trio of various blooms using the following Die-namics dies: Die-namics Mini Royal Roses, Die-namics Mini Rolled Roses, Die-namics Rolled Flower
I stamped one of the beautiful butterflies from Inspired by Butterflies on a coordinating die cut made using Die-namics Inspired by Butterflies die and stamped a sentiment from MFT More Essential Sentiments.
Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the MFT Blog for a list of participating designers who have an assortment of flower-filled creations to share with you today!

Precious moments 47

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, May 16, 2013 @ 8:29 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! I had some "me" time so I decided to join along with the  May Scrap Around The World challenge. I made a layout featuring a photo of dear Scott and Meredith that was taken nearly 8 years ago while we were on vacation on Maui.
Scott hasn't changed a bit but Meredith has grown like a weed! She is now 5' 10" and still growing!
For texture I combined MFT Mini Chicken Wire and fiber paste, added some mist then  randomly stamped the polka dot stamp from MFT MPD Distressed Background Blocks.
Once the background was created, I added a corrugated die cut butterfly using Die-namics Butterflies, tags that were made using various Die-namics Traditional Tags STAX dies, metal trinkets and flowers.
For color and sketch inspiration I played along with the May Scrap Around The World challenge:
