May your holidays Sparkle... 36

Mona Pendleton | Friday, November 30, 2012 @ 3:00 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! So happy it's Friday! I have the day off from work and a million and one errands to run! It's been a crazy week for me. I had to have yet another crown placed on one of my molars :( ~ this over 40 something all what it's cracked up to be!

Today one of my cards that I made many moons ago is being featured on the Melissa Frances blog :) If you have a chance I would be tickled pink if you stopped by - click HERE. Thanks in advance :) I have made several and I don't have a clue which one it is so it will be a pleasant surprise for me as well!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today that I made using a beautiful sentiment from Seasonal Sentiments along with pretty patterned paper from the Melissa Frances Deck the Halls collection. I layered the sentiment on a die cut made using Die-namics Layered Label Die which was then layered on a doily die cut made using Die-namics Decorative Doily.
I finished it off with a Wild Cherry Poinsettia made using Die-namics Poinsettia

Here's the fun sketch:
and here's my interpretation:
This card features the sweet image from Pure Innocence Stocking Girl which I stamped on a piece of Blending Card, colored with various Copics then trimmed around the perimeter. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from LJD Stitched Stockings which was stamped on a die cut made using Die-namics Rounded Banner STAX.
I completed the inside as well which includes a gift card. I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence Stocking Girl on a die cut label made using Die-namics Polka Dot Greetings die then layered it on top of a die cut pocket made using Die-namics Gift Card Pocket - Vertical. I couldn't help adding a die cut layered heart made using Die-namics Layered Heart along with fun patterned paper from the Pink Paislee City Sidewalks Collection.

Welcome...MFT November Creative Challenge 62

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 26, 2012 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , , , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are all off to a great start of the Holiday Season! I'm here to share a project for the MFT Design Team December Creative Challenge.
In case you are not familiar, the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to create Holiday Home Decor using our MFT Stamps and Die-namics. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

I created a mixed media holiday wall hanging using a variety of Die-namics along with several MFT stamp sets. After creating the textured brick wall, I randomly stamped the larger dots from LJD Darling Dots on the wall for a little added texture and depth. I think it also adds character ;) LOL
I added a trio of multi-layered Poinsettias that were made using Die-namics Poinsettia  which I sprayed using heidi swapp Sweet Cherry Color shine. I finished them off with a dusting of glitter and a rhinestone brad.
Tucked behind the Poinsettias are beautiful die cut flourishes that were made using Die-namics Medium Fancy Flourish and Die-namics Large Leafy Flourish.
I made a couple of Christmas tree topiaries using Die-namics Jumbo Banner Day STAX. Once the trees were die cut, spritzed and assembled, I randomly stamped using LJD Darling Dots. The pots were made using Die-namics Mini Tabs Foursome and each topped off with a star made using Die-namics Star STAX.
Once the wooden door was completed with all the texture and color, I adhered a die cut wreath that was made using Die-namics Winter Wreath and fashioned a stamped sentiment on it. The 'Tis the Season sentiment is from Inspired by Christmas and was stamped on a die cut strip that was made using Die-namics Sentiment Strips
In case you are interested in a nearly step by step more detailed tutorial, please take a peek at the tutorial I put together shown below:

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you enjoyed my mixed media holiday wall hanging as much as I enjoyed creating it! Remember to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have put their MFT stamps and/or Die-namics dies to work to create a Holiday Home Decor project for you today!

Born To Run... 55

Mona Pendleton | Friday, November 23, 2012 @ 2:31 AM | , , , ,

Hi there! To all those who celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope you had a wonderful holiday celebration with your family, friends and loved ones! We had a great holiday. Scott and I had completed about 90% of our holiday dinner preparation Wednesday night so we had time to start our Thanksgiving day off with a mountain hike then Tina came over and her and I took a bike ride. Jerry and April joined us for dinner :)

I have been playing around with modeling paste and various texture tools and created this page in my art journal featuring my sweet furry little four legged friend, Gretchen :) For the title, I used a stamp from Die-namics Girly Graphic Tee Die & Stamp Set and the white dots were stamped using LJD Darling Dots.

Once I felt a little more comfortable with the products, I made a layout featuring a photo of April and Jerry that was taken while on a recent trip to San Francisco.
There's just something about the Melissa Frances resin embellishments that I love. For a more aged look, I applied Distress ink.
Using Die-namics Hearts a Plenty, I die cut a few canvas heart embellishments
For the title, I stamped the Love sentiment from Inspired By Love on a die cut piece made using Die-namics Place Award Ribbon. To create the layered canvas fishtail banner strips, I used Die-namics Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX and Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX:
Shown below is a rose made using Die-namics Layered Rose.

and here's my interpretation featuring the sweet die cut bird and bird cage made using Die-namics Contempo Cage & Stamp Set.
I stamped the Miss You sentiment from Die-namics Contempo Cage & Stamp Set on a die cut tab made using Die-namics Mini Tabs Foursome and added a trio of Pink Lemonade rose embellishments made using Die-namics MINI Rolled Roses. To finish off the bird cage, I made a double Hemp Cord bow and added a Whip Cream button along with a pearl.

Coffee and Friends...MFTSCRAP2 50

Mona Pendleton | Monday, November 19, 2012 @ 10:00 PM | , , , , , , ,

Hi there! It's time for a new MFT scrap sketch challenge! Thanks to all who shared their creativity with us last month ~ so many terrific layouts! For complete details on how you can join along, please visit the MFT blog. Here's the fun sketch we are playing with:
I scrapped a few photos of my son dear son Jerry and his sweet GF April that were taken while we were all on a recent trip to San Francisco. Jerry looooooves a good cup of coffee and there is plenty to be had in San Francisco! With that being said, I inked up a few sentiments from Clearly Sentimental about Coffee:
I stamped and heat embossed a beautiful butterfly from Inspired By Butterflies on a vellum die cut butterfly made using a coordinating Die-namics Inspired By Butterflies die and added a glitter kissed Pink Lemonade rose embellishment made using a Die-namics Mini Royal Roses die:
I couldn't resist adding a cluster of homemade die cut flowers using the following Die-namics dies: Plentiful Petals, Large Royal Rose and the Royal Rose. To make the two die cut tags, I simply dry embossed Kraft cs using various embossing folders, cut using Die-namics Traditional Tags STAX then white washed with acrylic paint. I stamped a few fun images from Die-namics First Class Friend and Stamp Set.
Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the MFT Blog for some fab DT inspiration and complete details!
Be Sweet ;)
