Aloha! 13

Aloha Cyber Girl Friends!

I had some "down time" last night to play with my scrappin' goodies that I hauled from Phoenix to Maui. I wanted to make my sister, Tina another Thank You card for taking care of our home & my babies. While she stays at our house, she also checks the mail daily. Just to give you an idea, I have to carry a large bag with me to check the mail because my hubbie gets all sorts of journals & magazines, besides the daily junk :) While I am away, I send Tina a few cards to my home addressed to HER Attention. She gets a kick out of receiving mail, especially while staying at my house :) Please take notice of the "make shift" hotel light tent! My hubbie had this great idea this morning to make our own light tent! :) Try to picture this: a small coffee table, draped with a pillow case,a vase used as our decoration on top, propped in back of the drapes (window side), being held in position by me, with my DH sitting on the floor, photographing these pictures! Do you have a really funny visual? It was a hoot! (giggles) Well, that is how these pictures came to be! :) My sketch inspiration came from CPS122 & the vintagy-distressed flower was inspired by Dawn McVey. Thanks for looking at my creations. Please feel free to leave a comment! I really enjoy hearing from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Paper: SU Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, K&Company DP

Ink: SU Chocolate Chip

Thank You 23

Thank You!

Hi Cyber Girl Friends :) Thank you all for your support with my blog & for taking the time to post such kind words. :) Lately, many of you have commented on the photographs of my cards. I just wanted to let you know that I can't take all the credit! My hubbie surprised me with an early birthday present a few weeks ago, the light tent that "we" take the photographs in. I set up the tent, lights and the items to be photographed, then Mr. Techy works his magic! :) You really can't mess up a photo with this "magic" tent! :) TGIF! I have really been anxiously awaiting today for quite sometime now. Tomorrow just my DH & I are going to Maui for 10 days! :) We are celebrating my 41st Birthday & our 5th year Wedding Anniversary. We met at work 10 years ago, dated for 5 & have been married the other 5. Not many people can work with their spouse, nor would they want to. We really enjoy it! :) Due to the fact that I will have quite limited luggage space, I will only be able to take a few of my favorite scrappin' things. Color challenges will probably be out of the question but not sketch challenges! :) When I go on vacation, my sister, Tina doggie sits my 2 Westie babies and my home. I made this card thanking her for all that she does for us. The crocheted fleurettes on this card were hand crocheted by Tina following the tutorial found on Nichole Heady's blog. My color inspiration came from the Color Throwdown #48 challenge (I do not have SU Baja Breeze so I substituted with Bazzill Whirlpool) & my layout inspiration came from the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #234, SC234. There are some really amazing creations on all the blogs I have mentioned, so if you get a chance, take a peak at all of them! :) I was inspired by Danni at dannisdoodles.typepad.com to make "her" butterfly. That girl is very creative

& talented! I modified it a tad by using a different punch & by giving it a "vintage" look! :) Thanks for looking at my creations. :) Please feel free to leave a comment! I really enjoy hearing from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Happy Father's Day! 5

Happy Father's Day!

Hello Girls. I hope all of you are enjoying Father's Day with the special man / men in your lives, whether he's your husband, father, grandfather or all 3 of them! I am celebrating the day with my DH, son & step-son. :) (Both my dad and father-in-law have passed away so we keep them in our thoughts & prayers). Since my hubbie is my in-house tech support, I had to wait until today to give him his homespun lil' gift of love! :) (Note the Apple laptop as my prop! He has been a Mac fan right from Apple's very beginning. EVERY year we make a pilgrimage to San Francisco to attend the week long MacWorld convention!) :) I made him the picnic basket using the template that I purchased from PTI for $5. (I have sooo many ideas / plans for this picnic basket, the $5 was well worth it!) The template comes with 2 different sizes, I used the larger of the 2. What you can fit inside is pretty unlimited. Since my honey has a sweet tooth & loves See's peanut brittle, that is what he got! :) I looooved the color challenge combo at Diva Coffee Break Designs this week so much, that I used it to make these items. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peak at my creations! I love to hear from you, so please feel free to leave a comment! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

For You! 12

For You card!

Hello there Cyber Girl Friends! Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. Some of you girls were asking about the "setup" of the previous post, "Bonjour". Many times, I finish a card super late at night when the lighting is the worse.
My DH & I would struggle to get a well-lit photo of my creation so he surprised me with a photo light tent! If you have not seen one, it is simply a "pop-up" tent that comes in various sizes with a couple of lights with super bright CFL bulbs. The CFL bulbs used provide "daytime" light specifically for photographing anything you desire! I have seen homemade tents on the internet made from a cardboard box! It really makes a world of difference on how the card or item looks. I just added a patio table lantern as a prop! :) I hope this answers any ?'s that any of you had. This card is my entry for TWO challenges, the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #233, SC233, & for the Diva Coffee Break Designs #132, DCBD132. I used a hand crocheted fleurette made by my sister Tina! The step-by-step fleurette directions can be found on Nichole Heady's website (*Tina used a size 7 crochet hook & Aunt Lydia's crochet thread). Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog. Please feel free to leave a comment! I always love to hear from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Bonjour! 14

Bonjour!

Hello Girl Friends! I made this card for my bestest girlfriend / sister, Tina. :) This card has a little of my creativity, as well as hers! Tina crocheted the fleurette for me! :) I am one of eleven children, (6 girls & 4 boys). My mom, who has since passed on, taught all 5 of my sisters how to crochet. I am the only girl who did not learn, so that's where I can combine her creativity with mine. :) The step-by-step fleurette directions can be found on Nichole Heady's website (Tina used a size 7 crochet hook & Aunt Lydia's crochet thread). The sketch layout is inspired by Laura's Sketch 28 found at 2Sketches4You. If you would like to see many creative cards, I recommend visiting 2Sketches4You website. I hope you like my creation! Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and browse. Please feel free to show me some love & leave a comment! Always nice to hear from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

So Glad We're Friends 18

So Glad We're Friends!

Hi There! This one is for ALL of you girls! :) Having this blog, has opened my eyes to how universal papercrafting / card making / scrapbooking is! Prior to starting Cupcake's Creations, I would browse the gallery on Splitcoast, not even knowing that crafters had blogs, sharing tidbits about their personal lives & the inspiration behind their creations. It is so fascinating to me, personally, & exciting to see that people from all around the world are interested in my creations! :) Believe it or not, before my Cyber Girl Friends, I only had 3 girlfriends locally who do any sort of papercrafting! :) I work with over 75 girls in the Operating Room & not one of them are crafty in anyway, shape or form & not even remotely interested! :( I have to say though, they sure do like to get a lil' creation made with love from me. :) Thanks so much for all of your support, comments and visits! XOXO My color choice for this card is inspired by Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #9 & the sketch layout is inspired by the Card Positioning Systems 120 sketch, CPS 120. I do not have PTI Grass Green so I used SU Old Olive instead. I just had to make another distressed flower following Dawn McVey's intructions! These little guys are sooo simple, yet I think they look quite elegant! I hope you like it! Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and browse. Please feel free to show me some love & leave a comment! Always nice to hear from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Treat Yourself!

Hi Girls! I wanted to share this quick lil' gift I made for my hubbie :) He has a SWEET tooth like no other! One of his all time faves are gumballs! When I was at the mall, I purchased ONE pound of gumballs from the candy store for him. Rather than giving them to him in a plain cellophane bag, I decided to transfer them into a Making Memories container (the entire pound fit) & make a tag for it. I bought this gently used & retired SU, Treat Yourself, set at a rubber stamp show over a year ago & never used it until today! :) I hope you think it's sweet! :) Thanks for visiting me! I always love to hear from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...

Ingredients Used:

Paper: Neenah White, SU Brilliant Blue, Only Orange

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Brilliant Blue, Only Orange, Real Red, Garden Green, Summer Sun

Stamps: SU Treat Yourself

Sprinkles: Copic Markers Y17, W3, R29, Spellbinders Scalloped Circles & Circles, SU Oval punch, Sizzix Sizzlit Oval, Fiskars paper punch, Offray ribbon, Making Memories container, Double Bubble Gumballs :)

Flowers for a Friend 13

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, June 14, 2009 @ 12:24 AM | ,

Flowers for a Friend

Hi Cyber Girl Friends! I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend! So far, mine has been fun! Yesterday, my hubby took a 2 hr bike ride with me & his buns were a bit sore to say the least! :( Today we are driving my step-son to soccer camp where he will be for a week. I am going to check before we leave, if there is any stamp or scrapbook stores in the area! :) I needed to make my girlfriend / co-worker a birthday card for Tuesday and a card for my 52 yr old sister-in-law, who just graduated from college, with a Radiology degree. This card is my entry to TWO challenges, the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #232, SC232, & for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge, IC184. For the IC184, I had to use the colors featured in any picture from the website Lovely Package. I chose the item called Annabelle, (the picture on the right) & used SU Mellow Moss, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Barely Banana, So Saffron, Pale Plum & Perfect Plum. I was inspired to make the distressed pink rose embellie by following the instructions posted on Dawn McVey's blog. Basically, you tear cardstock circles! So simple, yet so pretty. Those girls at PTI are so creative! I hope you like it! Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and browse. Please feel free to leave a comment! I always love to hear from you! :) Be Sweet! Until next time...
